Thomas Jefferson also accomplished some great things in his own eyes. Being an architect he founded the University of Virginia. He planned it out, designed the blueprints, picked the materials and even helped build the university. He was very proud of this and he considered it one of his greatest; next to adding the Louisiana Purchase to the United States. He also had a great house called Monticello. It was full of wonderful engineering feats and inventions, such as gears and machines that worked with them; he even had a giant iron clock in his living room. He had a garden almost like a maze because of all of the hedges and sculptures inside it and he had slaves who constantly changed around flowers and bushes. Every few weeks his garden had become a new and wonderful place.
