Clothing Sense

Clothing Sense

Clothing sense is what may be called the sense of wearing clothes in good taste and for fashion at the same time. Thinking of how far man has come in his development of clothing allows us to wear clothes with dignity.

Wearing clothes in the beginning was for functionality and practicality only. The human body of necessity needs covering, no matter what certain colonies may say. Clothing sense has become to some as a passion. This no surprise because humans are naturally passionate beings. Mankind went from wearing one simple piece of clothing to both underwear and outerwear. Then there came the invention of footwear and headgear. Human ingenuity is a beautiful thing! As clothes making changed over time many developed the natural desire to make them so that they added an attractive appearance to the wearer. This was fashion at its birth. Color was added to beautify and to distinguish clothing apart one piece from another. Various materials have been used in the making of clothing and there are still new materials that are being used today. Fashion today has become a statement.

Some clotheshorses amongst us today are real fashion gurus. The business of fashion has benefited from these ambassadors of fabric. Without the endeavors of such ones we would not have the vast variety of clothing that we have today. Clothing sense and fashion is unique to the land where it is developed. For instance, the clothes worn in the orient is different than those worn in Europe, those worn in Africa are different from those worn in America, and those worn in the Asia are not the same as those worn in South America. Of course, almost all lands have residents that wear clothes from other places but in general the making of clothing is according to how the people of that particular land think. This is true because of language and culture. When a person speaks a language his general thinking is different from that of someone that speaks a different language. Thus a language group will have different ideas about fashion then his foreign speaking counterpart. But the biggest influence on fashion has been the historic cultural development of a language group. The environment in which a nation lives has also had a huge impact. People who lived in warmer climates did not give any thoughts to making clothing to survive polar conditions.

So what is your fashion? Some people of all kinds just follow the going trends in the clothing industry. Others dress according to what their peers think are cool. Still others couldn’t care less about clothes at all. This is obvious by what they wear and by how they wear it. Did you know that the clothes that you wear give observers an impression of who you appear to be to them? Do you wear clothes to impress or shock? Some do this quite regularly. Gangs wear certain colors and clothes to identify themselves. Certain positions of employment require employees to dress a certain way. Again your clothing sense does send a mental perception to others about who you are, may be, or want to be. Fashion it seems should be neat, tidy, and in good taste. Some of today’s fashions seem to ignore such expectations. Baggy, bold, shocking, revealing, and downright weird fashions seem to flourish in the industry. The practice of young men wearing their pants around their thighs or below their hips is a very bazaar trend. I am told that this trend stems from prison with homosexual overtones. This should move us to get to know why a certain fad or trend is such before we endorse it by following it.

While the clothes that a person wears does not tell others who they truly are it does reveal how they feel about the views of others. In fashion there can be a balance and modesty and moderation that can be met. Though we should not cater to every thought of others we should have a healthy and selfless concern with how we dress around them. We should also be concerned with how our fashion sense will affect our fellow man. So how is your clothing sense? Clothes are fun and they can identify us and protect us so whatever you wear, wear it well.
