The Great Speedo Debate
In North America, Speedos are considered a curse. In Europe, a godsend. Which makes the better case?
It is remarkable that a man’s bathing suit could be the impetus for such a long standing debate. Rarely do we hear cries of similar disgust for women to wear larger, less revealing swimwear but, then again, perhaps men have less shame. However, whether that’s good or bad is a question for a separate debate. Regardless, the Speedo debate continues so let’s try to see on which side the majority sits.
First things first, Speedo is a brand name, not a style. What we are actually referring to is the swimming brief – a snugly fitting swimsuit covering only a man’s genitalia and buttocks, rising higher on the thigh. The term “Speedo” is commonly used to describe them as this company is the world’s most famous manufacturers of this contentious article of clothing.
From my travels, swimming briefs are quite appealing across Europe, South America and Australia. North American men, on the other hand, rarely wear them.
The Argument Against
Ask most North Americans about Speedos and you will probably be met with laughter or negative feedback or both. This response is common among men and women alike. It seems that virtually everyone in North America prefers loose swimming trunks or, at lease, tight shorts to swimming briefs.
I have to say, the argument against the Speedo is based on sex. The most common response is that they seem to be worn too frequently by unattractive, older men than by athletic, tanned hard bodies. But the second most common response is that they “make men look like have no package.” So do Speedos fly in the face of American’s “bigger is better” mentality?
Actually, truth be told, North Americans are among the most conservative in the world when it comes to the naked body. And perhaps, unlike women’s concealed genitalia, the Speedo tends to emphasize their existence and, de facto, make sexually conservative North Americans a little uncomfortable. After all, the fact that there are designated nude beaches in the U.S. but in Europe there are many beaches which are acceptably clothing optional suggests a different mentality.
The Argument For
Venturing off to Europe, one can easily distinguish that swimming briefs are the bathing suit of choice for men. In fact, show up in a pair of trunks and you’ll be the one stared at.
Why do Europeans love the swimming brief so much? The most common answer is simply that they are comfortable. Wearing snug bathing attire ensures that private packaging stays put. You don’t have to keep shifting your nuts every time the water hits. And, incidentally, the “floppiness” of the master and his boys in the swimming trunk is considered unattractive by European women.
The next most common reason is the range of motion. Since swimming briefs take the shape of the body, men have better maneuverability than they would with bulky swimming trunks. It makes sense too because it’s the only choice of professional swimmers.
In addition to a better tan, swimming briefs show that a man is secure with his body and in himself. You have to admit, a guy with the nerve to sport a Speedo over his pear shaped body, must be pretty self-confident.
To Speedo or Not
Ok, it’s hard for guys in North America to go Speedo without becoming the focus of ridicule by their peers and strangers alike. Even guys in tip-top shape tend to be made fun of by other men and women. Clearly, North Americans have difficulty accepting things they are not used to.
The bottom line is that perhaps your North American buds are fans of the Speedo but next time you are off to Europe, try one out and decide for yourself. Trust me, you’ll fit in better with a Speedo there than with your Hawaiian inspired knee length swim trunks.

In NZ at present, they are not acceptable to wear according to the younger generation. There are still the people who grew up with them in the seventies who know the practicalities of wearing them!

What’s interesting on a cultural level in the U.S. is that the men’s swim brief, or speedo, was extremely popular in the 1950s, a decade that was considered to be repressive. (Check out movies from that era.) It was also the swim suit of choice from that time through the 1970s, the Nixon years. It’s only as the culture has become more flamboyant, shameless, and sexually open that the speedo has lost its appeal. I’m sure somone has written about that phenomenon, but I’ve yet to come across it.

I’m from North America, and I started fitness swimming when I was about 20 yrs old. After a few years of swimming and reading a good article that pointed out the reasons men should wear speedos, I got up enough nerve to get one. I figured they would be good for swimming, but was shocked at how much better they were. As for the fear of being laughed at (something I was terrified of), if you have a decent body it’s not an issue. In fact, you will experience a lot of positive feedback from ladies. I never realized that self confidence was such an attactive quality. Get a speedo and get a great swim, great tan and great girl … I love my speedo!

I don’t know what happened, or when it happened, but I can’t STAND the ridiculous GRANNY BLOOMERS most men in the US wear now. Let’s work to reverse the trend! I see young men are starting to wear jeans that ACTUALLY FIT! OH THE HORROR!!!

All men have genatalia, and women know it. So why are they hiding it in those hideous long shorts? Besides, it’s not like I am trying to flaunt myself. Well, maybe I am. But, women do it, why can’t men? Plus, I just want to be comfortable in the water and when I get out. I don’t like all that fabric clinging to me when I climb out of the pool.

One of the reasons Europeans insist on speedos in public swimming pools is that they keep the master and his boys in place and there’s no chance of them slipping down the loose leg of a short and scaring the fish. Noiw I would have thought a knee-length pair of shorts would have been fairly difficult for anything to pop out of, but maybe the rumour about Italian men is true!

Over the past 30 years the “feminist” agenda has been to beat down men in any capacity possible. If you have a great male body, then you must be gay. If you aren’t in great shape, then you’re a pig. It’s the same with men’s underwear. You have all these men walking around in potato sacks known as “boxers” because “that’s what American women prefer”. The underlying goal is to make men feel like they are inherently disgusting no matter what they wear. So, to hell with it. Wear a Speedo and be proud.

I think Americans have a very distorted view of this issue. People wear things to make them stand out, be different, non-conformist, for comfort, for function et cetera, all the time. I like wearing swim briefs and shorts (not board/baggy shorts), because I do laps in the pool and actually swim in the ocean when I’m there. They are better for this, I really shouldn’t care less what other people thought of it, since I am thin and athletic built. But it’s a shame that I have to ‘hesitate’ going out for a swim on one for concern over what the sexually repressed folks think. Have they nothing better to do but complain about what other people wear?. This is the same mentality that actually casts “Larry The Cable Guy” as the epitome of a real man, yikes! BTW, I’m not gay, I have a wife and 3 kids.

Why is there even debate over this subject? Women can basically wear dental floss at the beach or the local pool , and a guy has to wear what amounts to a pair of pants? I do agree with a previous post that stated this trend towards ridiculous swimwear for men is inspired by the “Rap/”Homo-thug”/Gangsta culture currently popular in the U.S. (and hopefully on the way out) If you are a fit , confident dude , then you can wear a swim brief with great results. Even if you are not in prime condition , wear what you want. I’m not going to base my fashion choices on people who I don’t know (or care to know) and their idiotic opinions.

I’ve been wearing speedo type swimwear for 7 years now and there’s no way I can go back to boardshorts. I first tried a speedo when I went on vacation back in 2001. My girlfriend even bought it for me. At first I was a little hesitant to take my shorts off at a Florida beach, but she asked when I was going to take off my shorts. Once the shorts came off, the warmth of the sun on my usually covered thighs was amazing. Since then, I can’t imaging wearing wet sloppy knee length shorts. Women don’t understand why a man would wear such a piece of clothing. Well maybe the women should try wearing boardshorts all the time and see how they like it. Guys who shun the speedo are either insecure in the heterosexuality or they have never tried them. I can guarantee any guys who tries them at least once will never want to wear boardshorts again. Seriously guys, if you have a fit, toned body, try it! Try wearing them tanning in your backyard or someplace private, you will be amazed at what you’ve been missing!

I don’t think that rap/hip hop has anything to do with all of this. Speedos have been in decline since the 1980s, way before gangsta rap came into existence. Most guys who wear board shorts probably don’t even listen to rap or hip hop. What I think happenned is rather the fear of being labelled as “gay”. Let’s face it, there was no gay movement in the 1970s and early 1980s outside of San Francisco . Then came the mainstream worldwide gay parades with dudes dancing in speedos all over the streets that has left scars forever in the minds of heterosexual Americans (both men and women). Let’s face it. No straight man, no matter how many gays friends he may have or how much he advocates gay civil rights, wants to be mistaken for an homosexual.

I think that Americans especially need to be a bit more open and accepting of people’s bodies. I always hear people saying things like “oh my eyes” when a person wears little or revealing clothing. My thought is that the real issue is that it reminds people that they are uncomfortable with their own bodies and they are pushing that on others. I TOTALLY agree with the guy who said that secure women are more likely to like a guy in a speedo or at least not to be too uptight about it. Some are hot. Some are not, but all should be able to wear what they want to the beach.

I like to wear speedos for the following reasons:
1. I have low body fat so I get cold less easily with speedos because they retain so much less water than trunks.
2. My thighs chafe less easily than with trunks.
3. I can move in and out of the water and swim so much more easily because speedos drag so much less water and air than trunks.
What is the aversion to the male form? Women can wear form fitting swimwear which shows their bulges and sometimes outlines their nipples and labia? I would like men and women to compare swimming and getting in and out of the water in form fitting suits to trunks.

I remember when i was younger, guys used to wear speedos in the summer in America. That was in the 1960’s and it was no big deal. It was very common. I never understood why they stopped. Women love to see men in those….yes…still. I think it has been a man’s choice to stop wearing them because it looks gay to them or they know other people will think gay of them (if they are straight). It has ‘nothing’ to do with women or what we think or ever thought. We never said we didn’t like seeing more of the male body. We always WANT to see more of it. As it is, we see virtually ‘nothing’! Men can see females in all types of revealing clothing all the time, but we females have nothing to look at. It’s boring to be perfectly honest. You can never tell anything about a guys body or be turned on by what they wear these days’..it’s pathetic. I hate those long swim wear shorts they wear these days. I hate the baggy pants style too. Women still prefer nice fitting jeans on men. The culture has it all wrong and I hope it changes sometime soon. We need a bunch of gutsy nice looking straight guys to wear the ‘good’ stuff and get the ball rolling again. Pleeeaassee!

Why the disdain for form-fitting male swimwear? I began wearing Speedos (or similar-type suit) at age 18 , and 10 years later I still do. For a fitness-conscious , well-groomed , and confident male , they are a great choice. I refuse to wear ankle-length “pants” for my twice-weekly 6 A.M. swim workouts. I’ve NEVER experienced any negative feedback – in fact , I’ve received quite a few positive comments and smiles. Now I do agree that it’s a bit odd that some men wear them while gardening , working on the car , or jogging (yes , I’ve heard the tales!). I limit my speedo “exposure” to the pool , and speedo (or skimpier) to the beach.

Hi,
I am Canadian and wear ONLY “Speedo” style swimming briefs on both public beaches in Nort America (From DL to FL and great lakes) and pools. I do not have perfect body, but who does? I never feel uncomfortable and really nobody cares. I have never experienced any problems or comments regarding to my swimming suite or apperance. So it is not true that North Americans are imature, and I am sure they don’t mind “speedos” on public beaches. Naturally for pool swimming “speedo” is a must. I heve never seen anybody seriously swimming in Toronto public pools wearing baggy shorts.

I weigh 195 and am 6′1″, with a 48″ chest and a 31″ waist, you get the picture! I am a single dad, with a 15 year old son, who also wears a sppedo, but prefers a thong. Wearing a speedo has its place and there are times not to wear them. One word of advice, if you are a dark skinned man or have an all over tan, do not wear a white speedo. When they get wet, they are completely see through.

Why American girls act like lesbians or Holy Virgin Mary while they have had so many pardon me, different penises before they got married got offended to see and know that guys have penises and bulges.

I am 36, 5′8″ weighing 190 lbs with 10 to 12% bodyfat, so I am pretty built, because I love working out and I also run for my cardio.
Anyway, ever since I was a teenager, I have always worn bikini’s or Speedo’s as most people call them to the appropriate places, of course, such as the pool or the beach, in which case I may wear something even smaller than your typical Speedo.
I have for the most part found positive reactions from women, especially from the younger crowd who will actually say hello or even strike up a short conversation, as well as from more mature women, will typically smile. These reactions, are even better overseas, where some will actually ask if they can take a picture, etc.
Men? I don’t care what they think, so I do not even pay attention.
If women flaunt it, why can’t we? I like showing off my body, besides women like and want to see men in something sexy, they want to see more and they like seeing abs, hard sculpted glutes and the much talked about bulge that is created by this type of very swimwear.
In fact, I firmly believe that women get turned on by us wearing this type of swimsuits, not just, because they are visually satisfied, but it also sends them a strong message of self confidence, of being fit, secure and yes, sexy.
I apply this same principle when I workout too. For example, if I am running, I run in running shorts, which are short and are split on the sides or I will wear compression shorts, which are very form fitting and I will wear either one of these to the gym for my workouts.
It is surprising and sad to see, that about 9 out 10 fit guys wear shorts that are at knee or below the knee length to do any of these activities. How ridiculous is that?
Anyway, I dislike board shorts very much, and I especially hate the type that go past the knees in length.
However, I do believe that people, who are NOT fit, should wear this type of swimwear, because it favors them. For example, a very tall skinny guy, with a basketball players body will never look good in a Speedo and neither would a very overweight individual who doesn’t take care of his body and I am sure that most women, wouldn’t want to see these types of guys in them either.
Average guys who are neither too skinny, fat or muscular, should stick with the shorts type of swimwear, which even I like to wear. These are typically around 12″ from the waist in length and are neither skin tight nor loose. I have about 3 of them made by Diesel, they feel great and do not take away any sexiness, like the larger and bulkier ones do.
Or depending on your body, you might have some slight definition of your muscles, in which case you can get away using the square cut, which is as tight and form shaping as the Speedo’s, but have more coverage. Women love these, because they accentuate your glutes and if you are uncomfortable about the bulge created by bikinis, well these still do this, but more discreetly.
I use these as well. Anyway, here is a perfect site for all types of cuts from Diesel, and I also would recommend Hugo Boss, especially for square cuts:
https://www.mensunderwearstore.com/shop/diesel/swimwear/small/whats-new/dl-swim2009/
Just a note, if you’re built, get your Diesel’s a size larger and your Hugo Boss’s a size smaller, I am typically a size Large on everything, but I have to use XL on Diesel and M on Hugo Boss.
So, remember! If you got it, show it, bulge and everything, but do it with style, in which case a bikini or Speedo is the way to go!
And if you are tall and thin or overweight, board shorts are a must! Average, people, go for the shorts that are not too tight, loose or long! Stick with a 12″ length, no more than 14″.

It’s all about sexuality, and the fact that we push it on our little girls (encouraging and allowing them to dress like provocative adults) and forbid boys from having any. Then when they are in their formative years, boys become intensely insecure about their bodies and their sexuality. Popular, insecure boys perpetuate these problems leading with a poor example and so it goes. If you want to change this, you have to start at the beginning. They need the confidence and acceptance that will avoid them, later in life, spending years ‘working up the courage to wear a speedo’ It is ridiculous that one piece of clothing can cause such a deep seated issue in our culture.

I have had many encounters at my cottage with various folks, and the fat unsecure guys laugh. The fit are quiet, perhaps thinking of but afraid to put a pair on.
The ladies would tell their friends to look in my direction, and would wait by the pool side for me to exit the water. There are the more outgoing gals who would ask for a better pose so that they can clearly see the buldge.
Ah, summer is almost here, and I cannot wait to tan and swim in my speedos!

Aussies don’t care. I a few years fashion will change and knee length flowery boardies will be called gay. By the way, fashion houses can make a lot more money from the board shorts whether or not they are comfortable- providing they project as being cool.

I prefer speedos and do not understand why Americans are so averse to them. They are more comfortable, and they look great. Speedos dry faster, and allow for better swimming, are more comfortable to wear and swim in at the beach. They more comfortable at the beach. Its nice not carrying 40 lbs of a soggy broadshort, with the cold soggy icy feeling of the 40 square feet of fabric sticking to you, when getting out of a pool. There is a double standard between men and women, that women are allowed to wear bikinis but men are not allowed to wear a speedo. What this implies about societies view of men is not good and it is sexist. Men look ridiculous in my opinion in “granny bloomer” broadshorts next to women in bikinis, like they have poor self image, no self confidence. Really any man should be free to wear a speedo. We should not be judgemental about peoples bodies. I see many women who are overweight and far less than perfect who wear a bikini, so its really hypocritical to complain about men wearing them when it seems nearly all women do, even with the most unideal bodies. If retailers marketed speedos more to men in the US, i think men would realise how much more comfortable, practical and convenient they are than their massive soggy 40 lb broadshorts and they would become very popular. Society needs to get over its anti-man misandrist attitude that mens bodies are ugly and should be covered up, like what they do to women in some muslim countries by making them wear hejabs. Its fine to be proud of ones body and men should be.

They parked their sunchairs and blankets about 20 feet from me (even though there was an entire beach at their disposal and no one else was in the vicinity). I would glance over at them an see they were clearly staring at me over their novels and we even shared a smile and friendly nod. Later, a few guys in their long hefty board shorts (which I’d like to add…80% of the board shorts are all decorated with flowers, but no one thinks that’s gay or odd…) with their bellys hanging over the top strolled by snickering and passed by the ladies. They’d asked the ladies if they’d liked that (pointing back at me) and the ladies quickly changed their expressions on their face (to suit the views of North American society, I assume) and answered a stout “ohh no way” to the guys.
Hmmmm… Go figure that. I wonder if they are just programmed to react how society wants instead of expressing their own feelings. I just looked over and snickered back at the ladies for their shallowness.

Having been a swimmer (competetive in youth , now recreational) for years , I consider myself to be somewhat of an expert on Speedos LOL. At the swim center where I swim , I see guys in all forms of swimwear. From boardshorts to trunks , squarecuts to Speedos and bikinis. I for one cannot reason why a guy would wear boardshorts for fitness swimming , but to each his own. If you are considering wearing a swim brief , please consider the fact that most people pay no mind to what one wears in this setting. That being said , if a Speedo is of interest to you , and you want to rock it , a few suggestions..
1) Physical fitness is a definate plus. Think lean , muscular and defined, especially the ABS , pecs and your tush.
2) A little bit of color-don\\\\\\\’t have to be a cancerous shade of brown , but just enough to shake the winter pale shade.
3) Guys , a little maintenance or \\\\\\\”man-scaping\\\\\\\” is nice , you don\\\\\\\’t want that fur hiding those muscles now do ya?
4) Pick a suit , style and color that you\\\\\\\’re comfortable with. Wear it with confidence , walk tall and smile
!!!
And if you choose to go the swim brief route , and you look good , expect a smile from me. Look REAL good , and you\\\\\\\’ll get a smile and arched eyebrows!! I am married , not dead LOL! Seriously , guys , wear whatever you choose and are comfortable with and have fun this summer! I am off to the pool to swim my endless laps
.

I really do appreciate, from reading the posts here that there are many people here in the USA who buck the “norm” of pants length swimwear for men. I especially liked the previous comment from “Mommyof2″. I agree that fitness and a decent physique are best for brief swimwear . . . men AND women!
For me, as a 53 y.o NON-gay, 5′8″ 158 lb. trim and reasonably muscular man, I much prefer minimal swimwear, the “Rio” style narrow side straps and narrow front and rear. I think I pull this style/look off pretty well.
Yet, the predominant reactions I get are ridicule, laughter, the “can you believe that!” comment. Most of these people must really be insecure or really uncomfortable with their own sexuality. Admittedly, I am still a bit uncomfortable with such negative reaction, but I’m getting better at it.
The one thing that does scare me however, is, however minute possibility of the “gay bashing” that a couple of guys might find it fun proper to do. I am not a violent person, but I fear the deranged types of guys who are put off by my swimwear choice will result in violence. Any thought, anyone, on this?

When visiting Russia last summer our group stopped as a hotel on the Volga River. Noticing many people swimming and sun bathing in front of the hotel, I decided to cool off. I grabbed my Speedo I usually save for lap swimming and joined the other, all similarly attired. When mentioning my adventure at dinner, one of my colleagues said “I hope you didn’t dress like the natives.” When I admitted that I did, I explained that I didn’t want to look out of place, look like a funny dressed American tourist. I didn’t want to be laughed at they way I would if I wore my speedos on a beach in this country.

Back in the day , in my late teens/early twentys , I was an avid Speedo wearer. Wore them everywhere from the pool at the Health Club to Foster Avenue beach in Chicago. Had them in various colors and sizes , from a 3-inch side brief for swimming to a 1-inch BRIEF brief for the beach. Wearing them was a HUGE boost to my social life. I’m talking mid to late 90’s , about the time the whole Speedo craze fizzled out.
Now , early thirties and in even better shape than back then , I just can’t seem to work up the nerve to wear ‘em again. Just at the point in life where I don’t want to cause a commotion or a “buzz” for being a rebel. Also , don’t know how wifey would respond LOL , so I’ll stick to my knee-length boardies and call it a day. But hell , don’t let me stop you from wearing ‘em if you choose.

I don’t know why this is such a big deal socially here in the US. I live in South Carolina (the buckle of the bible belt) and I started wearing swim briefs this summer in less public beaches. I cannot tell you how much more liberating and comfortable it is to wear them. I recently wore them to a very public beach and got stared at by a few people who gave weird looks, but I don’t care what people think anyway. Then one of the most attractive ladies on the beach walked right up to me, pointed her finger, and said “YOU CAN WEAR THAT”. My wife and I were befuddled and I said “thank you”. She said she wished her boyfriend had the “you know what” to wear them, was envious of wife, and because they were attractive on the right man. After a long and slightly unorthodox conversation, she laid out the ground rules on Speedo’s.
1. Some skin tone…need a little bit of tan.
2. Reasonable body…not the perfect body, just normal.
3. Most importantly….WELL MANICURED!
My wife agreed with her #3 vehemently and weighed that more than the other two.
Anyway, I love wearing them because they are so comfortable, fashionable, quick-drying, and mostly, because it’s socially liberating to buck the trend. So if you can wear one, do it, you’ll be surprised how many women out there think its hot!

Wow…great story Mike. I’ll be heading to a beach soon and plan on wearing mine. I hope I get the same type of compliment.

The only reason anyone would have a problem with Swim briefs (aka Speedos) is because they are turned on by them! Why else would it be such an emotive issue? Understandably many guys are reluctant to admit being turned on by other men in brief swimwear; their desperate need to conceal this fact manifests itself as distain for the said garment and those who wear it – it’s like an act of denial.
As for North American men; they are renowned the world over for being brash, confident even arrogant and seem perfectly happy to strut around holiday resorts with no top on, showing off their barrel chests and big biceps, but when it comes to the lower body, for some unknown reason their confidence seems to go into a kind of reverse thrust, hence the popularity of “Dork Shorts” and “Granny Bloomers” If you’re in good shape why on earth not wear Speedos? Exactly what is there for anyone to make fun of or laugh at? You need to show some REAL confidence and take the higher ground. Don’t let other people project their insecurities onto you.

Great conversation and stories. I really enjoy wearing swim briefs, after getting my first pair just two years ago. Now my son, age 7 wants to get a pair as well.
I can’t tell you how much I regret not having worn them for most of my adult life, I just didn’t know what I was missing, and what a burden those heavy wet and baggy swim shorts were.

I’m a fit straight male in my 30’s and enjoy wearing speedo type suits. My wife doesn’t care that I wear them, just as long as I am happy. I’ve always tried to hide the fact that I wear speedos from friends and family because I am afraid of ridicule. I have now grown tired of hiding my choice of swimwear and will no longer deny it if the topic ever comes up. Why must we males be so afraid of such ridicule over choice of swimwear? It’s just plain stupid. Yes, I wear a speedo….BFD!

There are way more reasons to wear Speedo briefs than to not. I like being able to wear them under my pants so after my activities, no need to find a place to change and I’m ready for a dip the lake. Best part is I can towel off, slip the pants back on and not have a soggy seat. I also asked my 16 year old son if all his friends wore speedos would he? His answer was yes. It seems that no one wants to be the only one, so if more men would come out of hiding the fact they too would wear them, maybe the stigma about Speedos can be changed.

I am a 55-year old straight, blissfully married male. I have worn speedos throughout my adult life. During the last several months I’ve decided to get into great shape again. I walk, do pilates and swim laps. I exercise 6-days a week. I’m 5′10″, 169 lbs. Not muscular, but slim and very fit.
When I swim laps I’m in the company of other avid lap swimmers. I’ve found it to be the exception when my fellow swimmers are NOT wearing speedos/swim briefs. From a practical standpoint other styles make no sense whatsoever.
On my walk to and from the showers I consistently get looks of approval from women. My current favorite is Speedo square-cut shorts. They minimize drag in the pool, don’t put my package WAY out there and compliment the physique I work so hard to maintain.
My wife, who is very fit herself, loves to see me in my speedos. By the way, what’s good for the goose……In my opinion, a fit woman wearing a one-piece speedo is the height of sensuality. It takes a good measure of self-confidence for anyone to wear swimwear that reveals every curve.

Release your soul from shame
Finally! A forum about a subject that the more “ashamed” of the populace would much rather ignore or nervously laugh off with some kind of “gay” quip or “fashion” critique. I say to them “face your fears” and overcome them. I am a straight male whom in my early years joined the “herd” of men(?) hiding their bodies in shame while at the beach. I began lifting weights and built a muscular “Tarzan” style physique that I am proud of and decided to wear bikinis at the beach. Considering that I am an avid “sun-worshipper” and nudist it seemed only natural. Because I live in the south you can imagine that speedos or other mens bikini style suits are rare on the beach. I have learned to ignore the derisive stares from some of the more prudish (jealous?) but they are balanced by the good feedback and smiles from other observers. For the most part however I just enjoy myself and am not concerned with what others may think. One must learn to be comfortable in ones own skin no matter the shape. We are none of us perfect. For years I have been forced to observe females of all forms in all types of skimpy bikinis(very enjoyable for the most part), and some were not very attractive. Why aren’t men allowed the same freedom? Our culture promotes voyeurism of the female form to the extreme but males are not allowed to be viewed in such a manner unless it is in a “gay” or “sleazy” context. Once you swim in the ocean and feel the freedom a bikini allows, when you lie under the sun and feel it permeate your near naked body, you may begin to understand. Do not be afraid of other peoples opinions or prejudices as they can not affect you. Free yourself from the body-image shame that society has drummed into you. Men should be able to be viewed as sexually alluring creatures without the stigmas which continue to exist in our current “enlightened” way of thought.

I’m an avid speedo wearer and just recently purchased a bikini style suit for my upcoming trip to Mexico. I showed my wife what I had bought and she wasn’t very receptive to me wearing so little. Usually she doesn’t have much of a problem with the regular speedo suits with wider sides but this one is a bit smaller. I told her that when I am on vacation, I want to be care-free and do I what I want. I will be there to relax and if wearing a small suit makes me happy, then I should be able to do it. At that point, she backed off and said whatever makes you happy. Isn’t that what life is all about? There are worse things that I could be doing. If you really think about it, what is the big deal about wearing a piece of clothing that is made specifically for swimming, tanning etc that is made for men?? Seems pretty logical, doesn’t it?

I have a nice body six pack, with a large chest and a good tan. I have a pretty big cock too. I love it when the teen chicks stare and my bludge. Makes me happy in the pants. Sometimes I get a bonner and my cock falls out of the speedo.

i am a single father with 2 boys one 9 and the other 13, both boys are doing junior lifesaving at the local pool, both boys started wearing a speedo very young 4years old and both boys really liked them even at a young age. they even asked to wear them every day as underwear. at first i did not agree with this but after a couple of weeks i gave it a try. both boys swim at least once a day sometimes more and speedos dry so quickly they dont even bother to take dry clothes to change into after swimming they just towel dry the speedos and either come home or go back to school. most of their friends do the same they all love speedos. in the last couple of years i have also started wearing speedos every day and swim with the boys after school. to add to the fun for the boys ii have installed an outdoor shower so when we return home from the pool we shower outdoors and sit in the sun to dry off. this encourages them to keep body and speedos clean without and arguements they love showering outdoors.

I like speedos. They are more comfortable in the water. They take less time to dry. They take less space in your bag. I also like how they take a certain amount of daring to wear.
