You may have faced a situation shopping in a big mall, when you just stopped for a few minutes to find that your child has ambled off. In case you have not faced this then I am sure you will know someone who has gone through such a situation and child safety is vital.

It is a fact that a child is separated from his parents every minute, in some place in the country and child identification has become very essential. They may be just for a few minutes or for some people much longer and the store may even have to lock-down. It is a fact that in any crowded place there is a fair chance of young children getting separated from the parents and they need child identification labels.

When questioning parents we come up with such scary stories again and again which has similar end result. One gets absolutely panicky, and nothing but panic takes over. If the child is not found immediately the store staff, security staff or the police will ask the parent to give an  exact description of the child who is lost, as well as what he is wearing.  Think about it, if you are in such a situation can you give the exact description of your kid, in state of panic. You need to have a child safety mechanism.

It can’t be denied that most small children look similar except for their hair, skin and eye color. Every child is cute, short, with round and big eyes and some teeth missing. When you add the situation to this many parents will not even remember what the child was wearing. There are mothers who carry child identification like the Social Insurance cards or Medicare information, but there are very few Dads who have any specific identification of their child. Some of them may have pictures but they also become old.

When you want a provider for the child id, get the one who offers a small identification profile card for the child in his program. This will have a list of the child’s particular identification with the latest picture. Children grow fast and you will have to find someone who can help you keep up with it. It is good to update the picture and details in three months till the child is three, and at once a year after that.

You may think that your child is always around you so you don’t need it but this can happen with you also. When the police reach the scene this is the foremost thing they hear from the worried parents. This is not something which happens due to neglect, but because everyday situation is not under your control.

The positive and anticipatory measures that you take for the protection of your child will be priceless in assisting the authorities to find the child with the exact information. This becomes very essential if you as a parent have to face such a traumatic situation.

Do not postpone it as the Boy Scout motto says “always be prepared”. You have to be sure that both the parents carry the child identification kit whenever they are out of home.
