Points to Remember While Buying a Pram/stroller to Your Baby

Before buying a new pram, recollect these points in your mind.

You all might have heard about the recent incident, rather called as an accident happened to a 6 months old baby in Australia. When his mother left the hand bar of the pram casually, to adjust her dress, the pram got roll down into the tracks of a nearing train and got drag to nearly 50 meters. By God’s grace, the baby survived. Though this accident was due to the careless of mother, some accidents can be avoided, if your baby’s pram is of good quality.

Though pram is addressed in various names like stroller, buggy, perambulator, carrycot, baby carriage, pushchairs, the main purpose is to hold and carry your baby comfortably. Here are few points you should remember while buying stroller / pram to your new born and older kids.

1.       There are lots of models and patterns available in the market. The general thought of any buyers is “More Money, Great Quality”. But the bitter truth is, sometimes the goods for which you paid more money is not that worth. So, don’t go blindly to buy a pram with high amount tagged to it. Check for the comfort of your baby.

2.       The parts of the pram are the next step you need to check. The very essential system is the brake. Check the brake, how it works and able to stand properly even if braked in a sloping position. Next check for the sleeping position. Check how much the pram can be stretched for your baby to sleep comfortably.

3.       If you have a car, check for the models with car seat facility.

4.       Most of the prams have instructions stating “Can be used up to 3 years”. But I would rather say, check for the weight limit. Because, few babies might be 20kg, even after turning 5 years, whereas few may be 20kg, even when they are 2 years old. So, check for the maximum weight limit.

5.       If you are having a plan to buy a new pram, once when the new born is grown up, then you can go for a baby pram in the beginning, which generally have lots of facilities. If you don’t have such plan, then should be careful while selecting, as the pram should suit a grown up baby too. Check for the leg rest area, whether will be convenient to place legs, for a grown up kid.

6.       Most of the researchers say that a pram with 3 wheels is highly prone to accidents, as the front wheel gets stuck easily in the railway tracks or any other pits. Be aware of this, and select according to your place of living.

7.       Buy a pram according to the roads and public transports available in your place, if you use them often. Instead of buying a “Foreign” brand, which does not suit your country, better buy which can be convenient to you and your place. If you are a frequent traveller, consider that point too before deciding.

8.       Buy the additional accessories required like cup holder, umbrella, rain jacket, winter covers, etc… from the same dealer or the shop, as it may find you some discounts.

9.       If you have twins, there are lots of prams available in the market to suit them. Make a study before buying.

10.   If you have a baby now and planning for the second one in near future, then there are prams available (like double seats, train models). If you don’t want to waste money, you can plan in advance and buy such models.

11.   Read the reviews about prams in the Internet before buying. Because most of the mothers will say the truth about the comfort or discomfort their babies had. It may help you well in advance.

12.   If you are buying online, then you should be very careful, as sometimes, you may get a damaged one or a different color or a wrong model itself. If you are in hurry to use and if you get a wrong one, it may irritate you and make you to lose peace. Better go to shop directly and deal in such cases.
