Do You Receive Straight-Talk Service with Straight Talk Phones?
Let me tell you about my experience with purchasing and activating a Straight Talk phone that I recently ordered from Walmart.

This past week I decided that I needed a new prepaid cell phone – you know, one of those refillable phones? After looking at several and being concerned about cost, I chose Straight Talk MOTO. Check out the features of this phone and I’m sure you’ll agree that $79.88 should have been a reasonable price:
Straight Talk Prepaid Motorola Phone Mobile Web Services
- VGA Camera
- Bluetooth wireless technology
- Includes charger and Services Guide
- Model#: NTMTW385CPWP
I received it on Friday, 10/30. I was so excited. The phone looked super. I went online to do the activation because the service guide said you could activate your phone and add or use an existing service card to add the minutes to your phone. Since I had already purchased the $30/mo Service Plan, I thought this was the easiest way to go. For those of you that went to view the service plan, since I did not walk into a Walmart and ordered online, there was no retail cash register receipt.
After filling out all the information online, much to my dismay, I then was told to call to activate. This has been the WORST experience of my life. You call their 877# to get a message similar to I’m sorry, we don’t have any customer reps available. Please try later. So you keep redialing and either get the same message or you will get a message that your waiting time is estimated to be 15 minutes.
Folks — I put my landline on speaker phone for ONE HOUR. Nobody every came to the phone, and I’ve tried all weekend to raise someone!
Not only that, when you try to do it through their automated system, it won’t accept their service pin that is printed on their service card.
I’m so sorry I purchased this phone. For my money, the way to go is to go to your nearest Circle K and pick up their Talk-and-Go Mobile(R) Pay-as-you-go Wireless Phone phone.
I paid $10 for the phone and $25 in talk time prepaid. Their customer service is wonderful.
I’m sorry to say, at this point I believe StraightTalk.com does anything BUT straight talking.

Hi StraightTalkMe, Thank you so much for the information. I tried this morning calling StraightTalk again. Initially, I was told there would be a 10-minute wait time. Almost to the minute, I finally reached a representative.
I’m happy to report that after 20 minutes, they were finally able to resolve my issues.
I commend you for your customer service. Thank you again.

I live in northern MN. Ordered a ST Samsung R451C. Received it today (in 3 days) and set it up online with the $45 unlimited card I ordered with the phone. I ported my number from Alltel U Prepaid. The whole thing took less than 10 minutes. My only complaint is it appears you can’t down load games onto Straight Talk phones.

I am glad to report that I refilled my phone today using Straight Talk’s website and it went through without any problems at all. Very smooth and self-explanatory.
Do I like my Straight Talk? Yes, the quality is excellent. I haven’t had a chance to use the camera, but I plan to soon.

Well, I bought my R451c like a week ago, i love it. The only prob like mentioned before is you cannot download games or apps like yahoo messenger and etc.. Thats pretty silly… The web browser is kinda crappy… But all in all for 45 dollars a month unlimted data and talk time you can’t really go wrong.. If you need more then pay to have more via a contract but, for me, this is AWESOME… Oh yeah and i wish it had video mode for my porn on the go… lol kidding.. One last thing, about the customer service, i’d rather have a hit or miss day trying to get ahold of them then going to a retail store and having ppl flock you trying to seel you crap.

I have Straight Talk. I previously had Verizon then switched to AT&T but the bills were CRAZY!.
When I heard about Straight Talk I couldn’t believe it but got it from Walmart and have had it now for 2 months and it is just sick! I’d heard that it was on Verizon and the coverage is rock steady, so yeah!

I also purchased a straight talk phone at the walmart store, I went with the more expensive phone, since I would be saving so much in bills I figured i could spend a little more on the phone, didnt get the super high one, got the Samsung 451c it is a great phone, but I (as many of you above have mentioned), would like to be able to download games onto my phone and have not figured a way around it. I have had many phones over the years and this is the very first phone EVER to not have a single game on it!! even the very cheap phones that are prepaid have games on them!!.. The corporate feelers reading these should be paying close attention to what their customers want!
I must however say, overall I am impressed!
