How to Take Songs Off an iPod
This is great if you’re changing computers or your computer crashed. It’s the fastest, cheapest (free) and easiest way to get songs onto your computer from your ipod with no downloading of programs.
Here’s what to do:
- Plug your ipod into the computer.
- Open itunes and on the ipod page click “Summary” (”Settings” for ipod suffle).
- Click “Enable Disk Use”. You will now have access to your ipod.
- Open “My Computer”.
- Your Ipod will now be showing. Double-click the ipod icon.
- At the top click “Tools”. Then “Folder Options”.
- Click the “View” heading.
- Find “Hidden files and folders” and click “Show hidden files and folders”.
- Click “OK”.
- Open “Ipod_control”.
- Open “Music”. These are the folders your music is held in (F00, F001 and so on).
- Don’t be alarmed because the names are very confusing (AKFS, KDLS,…)
- Open each folder, one at a time, and Copy and Paste the music files into your ITunes library (in ITunes click “Music”).
- If the music is “legal” music, it will be properly named, if it is “illegal”, there is a chance that it will still have the AKFS, KDLS… names for songs but artists and albums will be correct.
- You’re Done! And cheated out apple because they don’t want you to do this.
