Increasing Your iPod’s Battery Life
Here is a method proven to increase your iPod’s battery life significantly.
Have you ever wondered why your favorite music player is not playing music for as long as the label told you it would? Do you feel ripped off? Don’t panic, here are some safe ways to increase your iPod’s battery life.
Please Note: This method is for Lithium Ion batteries that fit all Apple Ipods. If you are using this guide for other music players – you may have to consult their website first. Although this method is very safe, and I have confirmed that with Apple’s help and support line, I hold no responsibility for potential damage you do to your iPod.
Step One: Go to the settings in your iPod’s main menu. Set your backlight to go off after 5 seconds, and set your brightness to one of the lowest settings. Also turn Power Saver on. This will make sure that your iPod’s power hungry backlit display stays off when you play your music.
Step Two: When you have chosen your song, set your iPod on hold. This will prevent the click wheel from rubbing against your pockets, therefore saving precious battery life.
Step Three: Perform a partial discharge. This is a safe procedure as long as you read the directions carefully. Repeat the discharge every month for optimum results. Charge your player to the maximum capacity. Then set the brightness to the highest setting and the backlight to always stay on. Play a movie/music on your ipod, and wait for it to turn off as the battery gets low. NOTE: DO NOT turn the ipod back on, and wait for the battery to die completely. Plug in your iPod and let it charge back up as normal. This process trains the Lithium Ion battery inside the unit, and will also make your battery life meter more accurate.
Step Five: If all else fails, limit your iPod’s features. For example turn off coverflow, and set a volume limit. This will give you an extra boost, as the battery will now use more resources. If your battery continues to live for less then 60% of the promised time, take it to the Apple store, and get a replacement. Make sure you have your original reciept handy.
