Peregrine Gaming Glove
A glove that thinks it’s a keyboard.
I don’t know if you got a chance to check out all of the smaller booths at E3 this year, but there was one in particular that stood out for me. The Peregrine booth had a very interesting peripheral that could be the next big thing in alternate gaming peripherals. This device is literally a glove that looks like a battting glove that a baseball player would use. The only difference is that on the back of the glove there is a magnetic port that hooks up to a usb cable that you use to connect the glove to your computer. On the glove itself there are a number of touch sensers scattered among the four fingers of the glove. On the thumb of the glove there is another sensor that is used to activate the touch points on the fingers. By touching your thumb to your fingers you can now trigger whatever key that you have binded to the touchpoints.
Now you might think that this will get in the way of using the keyboard, but that is not the case. The gloved hand can use the keyboard without activatingt the touch points. You might think that after a number of hours playing games that the glove will get all crusty and then what? Well, the glove is machine washable. What if you have to go away from the computer for whatever reason? Well, you can also detach the glove from the USB cable on the fly, and then reattach it when you come back.
This glove has a lot of features that could be really useful for gaming and even for other applications. I could even see this technology bring used yo help people with certain disabilities have better computer freedom as well. The price range for the glove is between $100 and $130 which is not entirely unreasonable considering all of its features.
