Put Your Old Mobile Phone to Better Use

Put Your Old Mobile Phone to Better Use

Here are six ways you can earn money or just get rid of your old mobile phone if you have a new better one that you want to use.

Do you find that you have a desk filled with mobile phones, some which are yours and the others that belong to your family? In these credit crunch days, here are some ways you can make money for your old mobile phones

1) Exchange your mobile phone for money through websites

www.mazumamobile.com

www.envirofone.com

www.money4urmobile.com/consumer/

www.simplydrop.co.uk/?RMGRMPPC_=_money_for_your_old_mobile_phone

www.cellforcash.com/

Most of these sites give you cash for your mobile purely because they send it off for recycling. This way you are doing your bit for the environment and getting some extra cash for your pocket. There are many more sites like this but these are only the tip of the iceberg. How these sites work is that they send you a free post envelope and basically you put your mobile phone in it and send it off and wait for a cheque. I know for sure that www.envirofone.com does a charity section www.envirocharities.com/ too where you can send off your mobile phone and the money goes to charity so that is a way you can do your part for the environment. These are fully reliable and you can compare all of them to see which offers the best money for your old mobile phone. Apart from mobile phones, a few other sites like this do recycle anything from iPods to games consoles. You can even send in mobile phones that aren’t working so as long as they aren’t completely shattered but the amount of money you earn for that will be comparatively lesser. The amount of money you get depends on the model you are trading in and the condition it is in.

2) www.swagbucks.com

What I love about www.swagbucks.com is that it is like an internet money shop. Basically, you join the site and you get points called ‘swagbucks’ through various ways like using it as a search engine etc. One of the ways you can earn plenty of ‘swagbucks’ is by trading in your phone. Once you finish trading it in, you get ‘swagbucks’ and although this isn’t cash, you can go to the Swag Store and get various things like music albums to T shirts and plenty more by trading in those swagbucks that you earn. This way, you can buy your choice of things buy paying no money for them whatsoever but by trading your phone in, you get your internet money (swagbucks) to get you little presents.

3) Car boot sales

If you live in the UK, car boot sales are good if you want to get rid of those mobile phones. Don’t be disheartened if no one wants it but sometimes, you never know who is looking for one. You can’t expect to make a lot of money here but it is the way to go if you have a comparatively older phone model and you don’t know anyone who wants it. In the US, garage sales do the same thing but I don’t have much knowledge about these.

4) Young children

Children in their preteens or who have just entered their teens will find a need to have a mobile phone. As parents, some might not trust their child with a nice expensive one so why not give a young child an old mobile phone. You might not earn anything but it is a good way to tempt your child by getting them to do chores in return for a mobile phone. But do give them a mobile phone in working condition because children are quite picky. This way, you don’t have to worry about spending money for a new one for the fear that it will get damaged and your child can have practice with using a phone more responsibly.

5) Components

Many times, the components of a mobile phone like the battery or the case are quite useful so you could try selling those instead of the actual phone. I wouldn’t recommend earning money this way because it does turn out to be a pain sometimes but if you have batteries or cases lying around, you could try and sell them too.

6) www.ebay.co.uk

If you have a good functional phone, but someone gave you a better one for Christmas and you want to get rid of your old (but good) phone, I’d suggest www.ebay.co.uk . A lot of the people who do look for things like these are university students or the younger generation who probably don’t have as much money to spare and some wont mind buying second hand mobile phones, especially if it is in good condition. But one word of warning, you want to mention exactly if there are any faults in the phone (which ideally there shouldn’t be but you could give it a try) and you must mention that it has been used by you before but if it is in a near brand new condition, I’d mention that too. Sometimes, you may want to jazz up you phone by putting some games or applications that are compatible with your phone and mention that on the product profile on www.ebay.co.uk which probably might make your mobile phone more likely to be bought. A good place to get free software for your phone is www.mobile9.com  so you could try and put some software like a dictionary or a translator or just a few games to bring it up.

So now you know how your mobile phone can be put to better use, pick your favourite out of these methods and get on with it. You never know when you will hit jackpot!
