Seven Benefits of Old Cellphones Over Smartphones
A list of seven ways in which the new multimedia smart phones still lag behind their low-end counterparts.
Unlike most teenagers and techies, there are some people who are not loaded with a high end multimedia smartphone when they ask for one, instead, they are fixed with a low end monochrome cellphones which maybe their parents used at one time. Though most of the teenagers find it a curse, an optimistic look at it reveals some of the places where these low end phones have more ground covered from their high end counterparts. Afterall, your iPod or PMP can always fill the gap left for multimedia entertainment, fun applications and even web browsing in some cases.
-
Better Battery Life. While any basic cellphone needs a recharge after every one or two days of normal use, a low end phone can easily provide you with 3-10 days of juice depending upon the features, use and type of battery. The basic concept in this theory is that low end cellphones have battery saving backlighting, no fancy features like camera, multimedia features, etc. And since you cannot use them for anything except making calls and text chatting, you won’t be taking it heavily on those light devices.
- Less Stress. A low end cellphone is probably very cheap and you won’t ever keep anything important in it. This is why even if it gets lost, you won’t have a sign of worry on your face as you can get another one for nothing but small change.
- Easy Handling. A low end phone, as mentioned above is really cheap and you don’t really need to worry about it getting lost. Similarly, you can do all kinds of tricks with it as you no that there won’t be a big loss even if it gets wrecked. Most phones are however, very durable and can easily survive harsh and high falls.
- More Alerts. You might find monotones really annoying, but in practical use, they are much more alerting than any polyphonic or true tones due to it’s high pitch sound. Fortunately, most low end cellphones support monotones, which assures you that you will rarely miss a call because you didn’t heard the phone ringing, and rarely will it happen that you didn’t wake up from your mobile alarm because it had a “soft” voice.
- Lightweight and Easy to Carry. Most advanced phones, such as the iPhone, Nokia N 97, etc. are really bulky and not at all pocket friendly. However, you won’t even feel the low end phones in your pocket as they are really light and small.
- Useful Extras. Many low end phones have some really nifty and useful extra features such as a built-in radio antenna, a flashlight, etc. Though it might sound stupid, but you will sometime find them more useful than a camera or 3G connectivity.
- Fast performance. No System Hangs. Let’s face it, every smartphone, no matter how great hangs At some point of time. Even if not, it slows down it’s processing if it faces a lot of workload. But the low end phones never face such problem. Also, they are really fast in responding to your commands.
So let’s just say that a coin has two sides, though a multimedia smartphone is superior to their low end counterparts, still the low ends boast forward of them in many ways. So next time someone makes fun of your cellphone, don’t forget to give them a link to this article.
