Ten Secret Features of iPhone 3.0

Some more or less hidden features of Apple’s new operating system iPhone 3.0.

Apple recently released an updated version of Iphones operating system – version 3.0 . The 3.0 version contains awaited futures such as better searching and the ability to send MMS. There’s also a lot of not features that hasn’t been documented (at least not yet) and may not be that easy to figure out. This article will show you ten of these “hidden” features:

  • Increased searching. Instead of dragging the right menu from the home menu to access Spotlight (the search function), you can no In the Home menu, you can drag the menu to the right to access the searching function Spotlight. Instead of dragging the menu, you can now click the home button to quickly access Spotlight. Furthermore, it’s now possible to search both in both the contacts and the e-mail program.

  • Better scanning of audio files. Earlier, when playing MP3:s, only click on the players indicator to jump to different sections of the songs. Now you can keep your finger on the line indicator and drag it forward or backwards to quickly listen to the different sections of a song.

  • Special keyboard characters. You can quickly now access new characters by holding down a key. For example, when you want to put in a sentence, you must normally go from text mode to numeric mode to set point, and then back to text mode.  So, by holding down the key “.” will give you a small menu letting you chose “” instead.

    To do this automatically you can hold down the button to switch between text mode and numeric mode and then drag your finger to point. “”. When you release the keyboard will automatically switch back to text mode.

  • Shake off misspelled words. If you have written something wrong in e-mails, Safari, notes and SMS, simply shake your phone to delete the latest input.

  • Quote e-mails. By holding down your finger for one second on the e-mails text you will get the text cursor. By simply selecting the text you want to quote and click reply.

  • Delete individual messages. In earlier versions you couldn’t delete individual messages in text conversations without deleting the whole entire conversation. In the latest version, however, you can remove individual messages or forward them by clicking change in the upper right corner. Then simply select one or more messages and delete or forward.

  • Open link in new window. In the Safari browser you can now open a new link in a new window by holding your finger for a second on the link. A menu will then appear that lets you copy or open the link in a new window.

  • Forced application to shut down. Version 2.0 had the ability to close an application by clicking on the home button. Because of new functions, a hung application will be forced to close by holding the off button until “off” appears and then holding the home button for about 5 seconds.

  • Unlimited number of applications. The displayed home applications has increased from nine to eleven, with a total of 176 applications available to displayed in version 3.0. But you can still fill your memory with over 176 applications. You can’t see them, but easily find them with Spotlight.

  • Change App Store account directly in your phone. You now don’t need to synchronize your phone with your computer to change your App store account. It is now possible to change the account directly in your phone by by simply start App store, go to featured, click on your account name and log in or change your account.
