The New Google Phone G2, Aka the HTC Magic
This new Google phone G2 is the sequel to the old Google phone, which is also called the HTC Magic. This article will tell you the specifics and functions of the G2. Enjoy!

Ta Da!! This the the new Google phone, the G2, or the HTC Magic. Pretty sleek, huh? It is also Android powered, and comes with a stylus. It has basic Google services, like Gmail, Google Search, and Google Maps, Youtube, etc. It has a nice, clear, 3.2 inch touchscreen. Unlike the older version, the G2 has a touchscreen keyboard, like the iPhone. It feature is disliked by many since the slide out QWERTY keyboard proves to be better for fast texting. But this make the 2 much slimmer and thinner, and less clunky. The G2 also has handwriting recognition, and (unless you have terrible handwriting) it can recognize the words you write. But again, who would want to write when there is a nice keyboard that is probably two times faster? The G2 also has an accelerometer which rotates the screen depending on how you hold the phone. There;s also the little trackball on the bottom for easy navigation.
The G2 has a 3.2 megapixel camera, which can take great pictures. It also have Auto Focus, will is pretty good. With bluetooth, you can print picture directly from your phone or store them in your computer. This can be very convenient. The G2 also has video taping abilities, which its predecessor does not have. You can upload your videos directly onto Youtube. The pictures and videos are great on the 480×320 pixel screen.
It also has a built in GPS. You can see satellite road maps right on your phone. You can locate restaurants, businesses, and attraction. And like the G1, the G2 has the Google Maps Street View. it allows users to navigate around cities easily right on the phone.
The G2 also has a nice browser, which allow users to surf the web, check E-mail, or chat with friends with a touch of a button, or in this case, the screen. The browser includes a zoom wheel, brought up with a double tap of the screen, which can, obviously, zoom in and out on the web page. The G2 also has Wi-Fi support.
The stand-by time for the G2 is 660 hours, much longer than the G1. Its talk time is 400 minutes. The battery is rechargeable.
The G2 has a great music player also. It supports many music formats, like MP3, AAC, WMA, etc. The sound on the G2 is pretty good too, but its even better with earphones.
But if you’re living i the US, don’t think out going out to get one. The HTC Magic is not yet advailable in the US. Its retailer, Vodafone, is only releasing the phone in a limited number in countries internationally. It is heard that it is VERY expensive, but I’m not sure. T-Mobile, the retailer or the G1, seems to have let go on the G2. Maybe they’re waiting for the G3? We’ll never know (well unless they tell us). But it is rumored that it might be coming out in the US soon, maybe sometime this year or early next year. For us American, we’ll just have to wait and hope.

And here’s a hands-on video of the HTC Magic.
NEW UPDATE: The HTC Magic is now available in the Us through T-mobile, but is now called the MyTouch.
