Three Pieces of Technology That Ease Life
Three pieces of technology that help me get by on a day-to-day to basis.
Technology has made life easier for all of us. Made it easier to entertain ourselves, made it easier to stay in touch with friends, made it easier to just get by. Here, I’ve compiled a list of three things I am very grateful for, which have made life much easier for me.
MP3 Player
I own a Sansa by Sandisk and it is the most essential piece of equipment I own. I live a good hour and a half away from the college I attend, and take the bus in and out every day. Without my Sansa, I’m almost positive I’d be driven mad by the experience, or at least fall asleep on the bus and miss my stop. One of the most annoying experiences for me on the bus are people who seem to forget they’re in a public space and speak about their personal lives about fifty decibels too loud. I know I’m not the only one irritated by this, I’ve seen loads of fellow passengers become discomforted by the talkers. The ability to block them out, or to simply amuse myself listening to music on the Bus or train is essential for my continued sanity. No doubt many of you are the same, or if you’re on a long plane flight. You can only watch the crappy plane movies or listen to the crappy radio for so long. An MP3 Player can save anyones sanity if they spend long enough commuting or flying.
Laptop
Another essential tool, especially for a college student. All my assignments are typed up, all my e-mails (college, work and personal) can be checked no matter where I am on campus. Plus, as an added bonus, if I’m bored in a lecture or waiting five hours for my next one, I can just surf the net or watch a movie. Laptops are great. While vastly more expensive than desktops, their mobility more than makes up for it. Quite simply, I love my laptop almost as much as I love good food.
Mobile Phone
My Nokia 6300 has become far more useful lately. Mobile Phones are now everywhere in society. Some say they are annoying, and on the train nothing is more annoying than someone who feels like they have to make up for the distance between them and the friend on the other end by yelling. However, I see the massive benefit in them. Modern phones can act as an entertainment centre, you can set appointment reminders, birthday and anniversary reminders. And they can act as phones too. I always forget that bit. For a business man, student or even just someone with a very active social life and with a lot of events to remember, a mobile phone is almost as essential as clothing.
So there’s my list. Anything you think I’ve forgotten? Feel free to mention it in your comments. Let me know!
