What I Think About the iPod Touch
My thoughts about the new iPod Touch vs. the iPhone.
The “What I Think About…” series shows my view on a wide variety of topics ranging from the newest tech gadgets to what’s happening in our world today. I encourage you to post a comment at the bottom, no matter if you see my point of view or strongly disagree. I would love to hear your point of view!
What I Think about the iPod Touch
Being an avid Apple user I was in awe when I first saw the details about the new iPhone that would soon swarm the markets. It had all the features I had always been wanting in my iPod for years. I was eager to buy one, but knew it was far from reach. I am currently locked into a 2 year contract on my family share plan with Verizon. Plus I’m not ready to put down the money for the cost of the phone on top of the plan cost for a single phone. *sigh*
Then, the iPod Touch was released. This contains most of the parts within the iPhone, minus the phone, camera, and vibration.
The iPod Touch has become my favorite tech gadget. With the release of the 2.0 software (worth the cheap download!), I can be constantly upgrading my iPod on a daily basis. Between the wide selection of games that utilize the multitouch screen and accelerometer (measures tilting) and the utilities that help me track my school assignments, I am constantly using my iPod. And best of all, most of the best applications are free!
So if you’ve got your eyes on the iPhone but don’t have the $, then definitely check out the iPod Touch!
(Some rumors around the net also suggest that a major update to the iPod Touch is coming, including a price drop. Read it here!)
I would love to hear from you about what you think! Post a comment below! I also encourage you to come back later and continue in the discussion!

I got the iPod Touch because like you, I did not want to pay for the extra services of owning the iPhone. I loved the Touch, I used it everyday from the day I got it for Christmas 2007. It is definitely not the same as the iPhone! Some may justify not getting the phone by saying it is the same without the phone and the features. When the iPhone 3G came out, I broke down and got one. It is a different experience altogether. You can do everything you can do with a Touch outside plus a lot more out of the confinements of wifi. I do have to say it is worth the $30 per month. I sold my Touch on eBay and never looked back.

$30/month? I thought the plans were more than that.
