Interesting Facts You May Not Know About the Mosquito Ringtone

What’s the mosquito ringtone? It is a high-frequency ringtone. Apparently, adults can’t hear it because of the high frequency this ringtone emits. Kids and teenagers can hear them. Here are some interesting pieces of information about the Mosquito Ringtone which I have found.

  1. Presbycusis

Presbycusis is a medical phenomenon to describe age-related hearing loss. As we age, we lose the ability to hear high frequencies. This is due to the fact that our ear drum becomes less flexible and less active. Kids and teenagers can hear the higher frequency vibrations of sound, compared to adults. By the age of 25, most adults can’t hear frequencies of 13 or 14 kilohertz and above.

  2. Mosquito Teen Repellent

The Mosquito Ringtone is inspired by the Mosquito Teen Repellent. This is a device created by Howard Stapleton to ward off teenagers loitering outside shops in London. It emits high frequency sounds which annoys teenagers. Since the adults can’t hear it, they will still come in to the shop.

  3. Uses of Mosquito Ringtone in Schools

There has been cases whereby students use the mosquito ringtone to text their friends in class to avoid detection by their teachers. During tests, they may use them to cheat too. Teacher, beware!

  4. Some Adults Can Hear It and Some Teenagers Can’t

Not all adults are oblivious to the Mosquito Ringtone. Some adults who are musically inclined may be able to detect the high frequency sound as they are attuned to music of that nature. Some teenagers can’t hear the Mosquito Ringtone, but that could be absolutely normal or due to hearing damage.

  5. Synonyms

The Mosquito Ringtone is also known as Teen Buzz or the Silent Ringtone

  6. Ringing in the Ears

Be careful when using the Mosquito Ringtone. You may experience a constant ringing in the ears and give you a terrible headache. Some say it leads to migraine too. Some say that the sound is so annoying, like someone screaming in your ears.

  7. WAV File Better than MP3 Version

Most people can still hear the MP3 version of the Mosquito Ringtone. WAV file which is a better quality audio file may mean that it is less likely to be heard by adults.

  8. Can Goldfish Hear the Mosquito Ringtone?

I’m not sure about the truth on this one. It seems that the Mosquito Ringtone drives the goldfish crazy, especially when the phone is placed near to the tank. They will swim around like crazy! I can’t justify this fact because I don’t have a pet goldfish.

  9. Warning!

Do not use the Mosquito Ringtone near a baby. You may just frighten him out of his wits. I read about how a lady’s three-month old baby woke up screaming when the ringtone is played. He only stops crying some time after the ringtone ceased. Poor baby!

  10. Download the Mosquito Ringtone

If you still want the Mosquito Ringtone, you can download the Mosquito Ringtone at Mosquito Ringtones website. Here you can select the frequency which is suitable to avoid detection by different age groups. It comes in three different formats, namely mp3, wav and ogg formats.

Enjoy!

Sorry for that, I mean “I never thought”.

I had just visited the site and testing the frequencies, I found out that I can’t hear the frequency marked “39 years old and below”. I have always thought that I have hearing defect and this test proves it.

Thanks.

Not a good idea all round. I’ve already got constant ringing in my ears, but then, I’m over 40 so probably wouldn’t hear it. Doesn’t sound like a smart idea. Good article. Thanks.

Thanks for the article. It really helped me, it provided me with great information. Katrina, who also wrote a comment, we are best friends, and you helped us with our science project a lot. Thanks again, and if you are going to write another website with great information like this, write about hearing aids (I have a report due TOM! I haven’t started yet.) Well, thanks and have a wonderful day! You rock so much. (That Avana person is mean by saying it stinks!) I love it. Guess what, I haven’t gone on any website that gives a lot of information in just one page. Like, this website had 5 pages about the Civil War, and I got no information from it! That’s because they are not a better writer than you. My mom is yelling at me to get off the computer now so bye! (MOM, BE QUIET!)

See YA,
Sarah, #1 fan!
