Bulmers or Magners?
What’s the difference between the famous cider drinks?
The hardy cider drinker has grown over the years. The arrows of the strong bow and sound of the chipping Woodpecker seem extinct Next to the fashionable King of Ciders. The Bulmers and Magners have taken our taste buds to the next level of appletastic. All that’s left now is a choice.
So what’s it to be my fellow drinkers? The Bull or the fully loaded Mag?
Bulmers Has been around since 1887. It was recently re-launched in 1996 and has grown in reputation ever since. Two brothers got to work on the stuff in Hereford, England and developed a strong brand.
Bulmers has more of a wild smooth taste. The cider taste is less sparkling and has no real edge to it. It’s like the John Smith of the smooth ale world. It’s quite sweet and leaves a great after taste.
The sparkling fresh cut Magners has more of an apple zest taste. The first sip will kick you in the back of the tongue. Magners was founded in 1935 and was produced in Ireland. It later merged with the Bulmers brand. The name Magners was designed for the International market and has a very successful image.
After further research I have discovered the Magners and Bulmers bottle and label design are very similar. They even both end in ERS. Hence, they both are made by the same company now. It also came to my attention that they are made in the exact same way.
So which is yours a pint of?

Magners, I think would be my choice. While in Ireland, a few years ago, I had something that was nothing short of great. Don’t know what it was, but I felt it after a few sips. Nice review, described well. Thank you.
