Gift Ideas for the Geek on Your List: Star Wars Toques
It’s getting cold outside, at least where I am. Toques are starting to become a necessity and might be on that special someone’s Christmas list. Do you have any geeks on your list? During this time of economic depression, saving money while Christmas shopping is also a major concern. Many of these toques have links to free patterns so that you can make them yourself!
It’s always hard to find something that people don’t already have. These toques are sure to be a hit with those Star Wars fans on your list. Some of these toques aren’t actually for sale but are just the musings of online crafters. Some have rough approximations of how they were made while others have an exact pattern. Star Wars is one of the most popular movie franchises of all time and it’s love crosses many generations. Perhaps you’ll find just the right thing for that hard to shop for person on your list.

Ahahahahahaha!!! For $7.95, this Etsy seller, ansleybleu, will send you the pattern to make this Princess Leia toque. Or you could buy a polar fleece model from the same seller for $49. Sounds worth it to me!!! Great gift for that sister-in-law on your list you don’t know what to buy for. Hysterical.

For $25, you can buy this ridiculously nerdy R2D2 beanie from etsy seller BugsInRugs. It fits a large child or small adult which is a perfect description of Star Wars fans — kidding!

If you know a star wars fan who’s reproduced (I won’t even go there), maybe this is a great gift idea for the new member of the family. At just $4.99, WeROnesieful on etsy has it for you. I hope that the baby’s name isn’t Luke!

This 3D R2D2 toque is especially geeky. The creator, Carissa, was selling them but quickly became over run with people wanting them. I think she has a waiting list for them now, believe it or not! She does, however, post free instructions on her blog, Carissa Knits, for how to knit this toque.

This reversible toque has May the Force Be With You on one side and the Star Wars logo on the other. The creator of this toque made it for her husband (not kids) during a major winter storm last year.

This awesome toque from Sarah at Blue Garter shows R2D2 with crossed lightsabers around the perimeter of the hat. She does have a loose pattern available on her site for this hat although most of it was made up on the fly as she knitted it. Fantastic creativity!

This hat looks like the average Scandanavian design from a distance but upon closer inspection, is made up of R2D2’s (again) and the words “May the force be with you” around the bottom edge. This one is made by a knitter named Carolyn and has a complete pattern available on her blog.

This crocheted yoda hat is absolutely beyond cute. And look at the expression on that kid’s face! The creator, Maimee, has some very loose instructions here. You have to look for her reponse in the comment section for it.

This one is especially funny. What could be better than a crocheted hat made of beer cans and wool in the form of Darth Vader? Hysterical. The cooky creator, LadyLinoleum, must have emptied the 8 beer cans while crocheting! I absolutely love it. The front piece is also detachable, which could come in handy when you want to drink more beer…
