Hot Christmas Gifts for 2009 (Tech Edition)
What’s the hottest, high-tech items being sold this holiday season? The list of the best, new gifts for gamers, players, doers and thinkers.
For anyone on your gift list that will ever have a need to hammer a nail in anything, the perfect gift for him or her is the AUTOHAMMER! It’ll cost you between $50 to $100, and you can find a version at Sears and another at Home Depot. It really does work like a charm – requiring a lot less personal strength as the device does the “banging” for you. So this may the right gift for a do-it-yourselfer or maybe an older person who doesn’t have the strength they once did.

For the gamer in your life, it’s pretty obvious. Give them a PLAYSTATION 3 game console (unless they already have it). It’s not the cheapest present in the world – setting you back $300. With the new option to download Netflix movies, Playstation 3 is bound to be on a lot of people’s wish lists.
For the college student on your list, the item they just shouldn’t live without is the LIVESCRIBE PEN. Now don’t think I’m suggesting a simple, little pen…oh, no. This is a pen that’s right out of the Jetson’s future universe. Let’s say you’ve taken notes during a lecture. The pen will record your audio, and when you place your pen over a section of the notes you took, the pen will play the audio that was recorded at that exact moment you wrote down those notes! Pretty awesome, right? The LiveScribe pen can be found at Amazon or Target for $170.

For children, the hot gift is the PLEO DINOSAUR. On sale now for $250 at Amazon. How can a dinosaur cost that much? Well, this dinosaur is actually a robot that reacts to its environment and can express emotions. It’s being marketed as a Ugobe life form. Freaky, but pretty damn cool. It starts out as a 1 week-old newborn and grows over time. So, you’ll want to make sure the recipient of this gift has the patience to put up with the sleepy and somewhat inactive new “pet” for a bit of time before it “grows up”.
