Top 10 Handmade Fathers Day Gifts
10 Great gifts to make for dad this year.
What is more special as a parent then receiving a present that has been made by the hands of your children? That’s why celebrating Fathers day and including a handmade gift by your child will be the one present that the father in your life will always remember.
Here are my 10 favourite handmade Fathers day gifts that you can make with your child to celebrate this year.
- Decorate a frame and include a picture: You can purchase an inexpensive frame from most department stores in the home accents section. Try to look for a plain wooden frame that you can easily glue items on like nuts and bolts. You can even look for accessories to add at your local craft stores that sell scrapbook accessories which are a great way to really personalize the frame with all of dad’s favourite hobbies. Get your kids involved in decorating the frame and choosing the picture that goes in it. I guarantee dad will have this on his desk for years to come.
- Decorate a barbecue apron: If dad loves to barbecue or cook why not make a personal apron for him. Look for a plain white cotton apron that is not too light so the paint won’t bleed through it. You will need fabric paint for this project so that the apron can be washed and will not be ruined. Dad will surely love wearing his special apron when he goes out to the backyard to barbecue this summer.
- Create coupon book: Have the kids think of different things they can do for dad around the house like help wash the car, clean their room or let dad watch TV. Anything you can think of can go into the coupon book. If you’re not sure how to create your own there are tons of sites that offer free printable coupons and all you have to do is fill them out. This is a great gift that dad can enjoy cashing in on.
- Bake a batch of cookies: Why not get the kids baking and make a batch of dad’s favourite cookies for him to enjoy. The kids will love baking the cookies and more importantly licking the bowl and of course dad will love having his own batch of cookies that he doesn’t have to share.
- Make a Why I love you book: Have your kids list why they love their dad in a book made by them. You will need construction paper and a stapler to assemble the book. Have the kids write a different reason why they love their dad on each page and include a picture. This is one book that dad won’t mind reading again.
- Make a movie basket for dad: Go out and buy a great new movie that you know dad would love. Then take the kids to the store and buy all of his favourite snacks to eat while watching the movie like popcorn, chips, and of course candy. Dad will love to be able to sit down and enjoy a movie with all of his favourite snacks right in front of him.
- Decorate a t-shirt: Dad will love a t-shirt with your kid’s hand prints on them. All you need for this is cotton white t-shirt and fabric paint. Paint your child’s hands and feet if you like and let them go crazy. Dad will love this t-shirt for years to come.
- Make a scrapbook: Make a scrapbook with your kids using pictures of dad and let the kids decorate them including their reasons why they appreciate them. You will need time for this project and it will be easier to accomplish if your children are older. Dad will really feel special when he receives a gift like this.
- World’s greatest dad certificate: Have the kids make dad a certificate he can proudly hang in his office. There are lots of free printable certificates on the net. Once printed have the kids add stickers, glitter or anything else they can think of to personalize it. Once its dry put the certificate in a frame for dad and I guarantee this will be the one prize dad will love to show off.
- Jar of kisses and hugs: If the dad in your life loves chocolate why not make a jar of kisses and hugs. Have the kids decorate an old jar or Pringles container with paint. Then fill the jar will Hershey’s Hugs and Kisses chocolate. That way when the kids aren’t around to give the real thing dad can have a chocolate substitute.
