Top Six Eco-Friendly Father’s Day Gifts
This Father’s day give your dad something that not only has a positive effect on the earth, but also breaks the monotony of the tie and slippers gift. Here are six gift ideas to get your wheels turning.
Battery Powered Mower
If your dad likes to cut the yard, and most do, then help him cut the green….the green way. There isn’t any gas and oil to spill or emissions to pollute the air with these mowers. Basic battery powered mowers start at around $400.00. Some operate solely on battery power, but some can be plugged in for extra power. If $400.00 is out of your price range, then you can always get dad on the right track with a trimmer. Battery power trimmers start at around $90.00.
Envirofit Clean Cookstove
Help dad cook up a healthy lifestyle. Charcoal grills and biomass stoves burn fuel incompletely, producing carbon monoxide. The Envirofit Clean Cookstove cuts those emissions by 80% and only uses half of the fuel. The can-shaped design allows only enough air in to fan the flames. A ceramic lining insulates the stove to allow for more effective burning. Starts at $15.00.

Solar Powered Flashlight or Headlamp
Give dad the gift of light, while also helping him avoid adding batteries to the landfill. Solar powered flashlights can avoid battery use altogether or have a battery as a back up for when the solar charge runs out. Some of these flashlights can hold a single (unused) charge for up to three years. They also start at very inexpensive prices- about $25.00.

Solar Powered Watch
Give dad the gift of endless time. Dad will never have to worry about changing his watch battery again. Most of these watches have a solar cell that will use direct sunlight and artificial light to charge and recharge the battery. Citizen’s watches uses a lithium- ion rechargeable cell to store enough energy to power the watch through months of darkness. The Citizen’s solar watches will run about $450.00. Casio solar watches start at around $60.00.

Eco-Friendly Golf Balls
Most gall balls contain pollutants like- cobalt and lead. They are also made of nonrenewable materials. Eco-friendly golf balls are made of 100% renewable materials…..meaning that every material can be recycled. Playability of the ball can be maintained with a proprietary polymer core. Eco-friendly golf balls start around $27.00.

A Fruit Tree
The gift that just keeps giving. Not only will the fruit tree provide oxygen, it will also yield some organic tasty treats. This gift is also cost friendly. Fruit trees start at around $15.00.

I wouldn’t mind having one of those lawnmowers. I play golf and i don’t think i would like those eco-friendly golf balls. But the rest of the items are interesting. Well done Jo.
