Valentine’s Day: Saying I Love You with Simple Gifts

Valentine’s Day: Saying I Love You with Simple Gifts

Simple gifts on Valentine’s day.

When was the last time you said I love you to your spouse? It might be several days or even months ago.  You should not need Valentine’s Day to speak those three precious words: “I love you.”  It should be said everyday to people you love, especially your wife.

Oftentimes, we rationalize that our actions will show our love to our spouse and that is definitely true, but don’t you think that doing these acts of love and expressing it simultaneously is the ultimate declaration of love?  They should go hand in hand!

What are words without actions and what are actions without words?  Each is incomplete without the other.  Complete expression involves all the senses. How would you express your feelings of love, not only this valentine’s day but everyday thereafter?

Here are some simple ways to do so:

1.        Say I love you with a breakfast you personally cooked.

What would be sweeter than for a loved one to wake up with the greetings of love, flowers and a breakfast tray on the bedside table?  This speaks a thousand words: “You are my wife not my household help; I can cook breakfast for you.”

2.       Say I love you with a poem.

Don’t say you’re not a poet.  You need not be a poet to compose a poem for your loved one. Just write the love you have for him/her on a piece of paper, type or mount it, laminate it if you want – just say it!  Express freely what you truly feel when you’re with your partner.  That would be a most touching poem – something that really comes from the heart.

3.       Say I love you with a CD of her favorite songs.

Give her a CD of her favorite songs.   You could even record them yourself if you can carry a tune.  That would be a most touching collection.  It would show how you are willing to go out of your way and do wonderful things because of your love.

4.        Say I love you with her favorite pet.

A pet would be a good gift this Valentine’s day, especially if she is left alone in the house most often.  It may either be a dog or a cat, fish or any of her favorite animals.  This would keep her company whenever you’re away.

5.       Say I love you by spending time with her.

How best to say I love you but to spend time with your partner.  Spending time with her denotes that you still consider her a significant part of your daily schedule and of your life.  Because you’ll always find time to spend with someone important to you.

Who would contest the validity of a love that is expressed and acted out? Not even Mr. Cupid!

Good suggestions there. I dont like the idea of giving her a pet though. Thats on par with giving a kid a puppy for xmas.
