When Humor and Gift Wrap Collide: How Not to Wrap Your Gifts
Gift wrapping is a way of hiding your present from its receiver. Givers usually try to make the wrapping a beautiful presentation of the gift. Sometimes, maybe we don’t try hard enough. Or sometimes, we just try hard to make the gift receiver get a good laugh.
Giving gifts is a wonderful way of letting a person know that they’re appreciated, cared about, thought about and loved. The wrapping of the gift is usually like the presentation of a gourmet meal artfully arranged on the plate to entice the eater. Sometimes, people don’t have the time, energy, dedication or skill to make the present beautiful with gift wrap. And sometimes, people wrap gifts keeping humor in mind and give a giggle along with a gift.

Here’s a beautiful example of how gifts “should” be wrapped. Vintage wrapping paper carefully chosen with a complimenting sheer ribbon tied in a wonderful bow perfectly centered in the middle of the gift. Notice the gender of the person holding it…here’s a present wrapped by a man, no offense guys.

Yes, this is definitely wrapped by a guy. Haphazardly folded, ripped paper instead of carefully cut paper and even parts of the gift exposed! Oh my! What would Santa say??? This particular present wasn’t wrapped by my husband even though it looks like it was. Um, sorry husband of mine.

Sometimes people really should skip the wrapping paper and use a re-usable gift bag instead. Not only is it more environmentally friendly, sometimes it would just look better! For more ideas about an environmentally friendly Christmas, please see my article titled: I’m Dreaming of a Green Christmas.

Here’s a great and funny way to take a gift that maybe should be in a bag and wrapping it with paper. Hmm, I wonder what this could be? Sure to get a giggle out of the receiver. I have to admit that I did wrap a pair of slippers using this “skin” wrapping method. They look hysterical! I’ve marked them as one from each of my kids. I’m hoping that they get separated in the craziness that is Christmas with my family.

Fun wrapping isn’t just for the Christmas season. Here’s a great Birthday present bag. Go Shorty… Hysterical.

This might look like leftovers from the kitchen wrapped in aluminum foil but in reality, its a gift from a groom to his groomsman on his wedding day. This again proves my theory of men and wrapping. I actually think that they could do a wonderful job but instead choose to wrap gifts like this so that someone else will do it for them. Clever…

Okay, perhaps this isn’t a gift so much as a prank. However, it does involve wrapping something up! I wonder how much saran wrap it took to do this and what exactly the car owner did to deserve it. I sense a major pay back coming on.

Here’s another wrapping paper prank proving that not only gifts get wrapped. The employees at this small company did this to their boss’ desk during his lunch break. It’s at least very Christmasy although I’m not sure how you’d read any of your emails or answer the phone. I hope their boss has a great sense of humor.

What could be a better gift than a happy looking lady in a festive sweater? That is one big bow!

Here’s another image of wrapping paper attacking people. These adorable little princesses seem to have gotten into some serious mischief while no one was looking. As I say to my own adorable little princess: “It’s a good thing you’re cute!”. This picture is just precious.

Here’s another thing I should have included in my article about things that I don’t want for Christmas. I thought that gifts were supposed to keep on giving? This one looks like it just keeps on taking and taking.
