It’s that time of the year again and many of us are trying to help out Santa by purchasing some gifts for the children in our lives.

I’ve put together a list of the top ten things my children and their friends seem to be talking about a lot at the moment -I’ve linked them up to pages on

so that you can go and have a look at the items for yourself and see if you might think they will be suitable for your youngsters too. I’ve tried to include things for both boys and girls.

   Funky, fun and Disney, through and through. The karaoke version is great fun.

2. Transformers

   Lots of stuff about your favourite “robots in disguise” following this years big summer movie.

3. The Simpson s

   D’oh – the yellow dudes get a lot of laughs.

4. Doctor Who

   If you survived the third season and have come out from behind the sofa then there may be something here for you – everything from a sonic screwdriver upwards.

5. Harry Potter

   With the final book in the series already out this seems to be hot property at the moment.

6. The Golden Compass

   My youngsters have read the original “Amber Spyglass” by Phillip Pullman and are looking forward to seeing the movie. The book is an excellent read.

7. Pippa Funnell Farmyard

   It’s horsey and again seems to be very popular.

8. Pirates of the Caribbean

   Captain Jack seems to appeal to everyone in our family – the latest film would be great to watch at Christmas as a family treat.

9. Robosapien

   How cool is this little robot? Not sure if this is for the youngsters or the older children.

10. Sakura
    Another great little robot – more for the girls this one.
