When funds are tight, you have to think ahead to find ways to save money.  If you buy Christmas gifts or any other occasion gifts for someone who is a gardener or for a person who likes to cook on the grill, you can save quite a bit of money by shopping for their gifts at the end of summer sales.
    

For the gardener on your gift list you can probably find numerous items marked down at the end of the summer that will make great Christmas presents.  Small garden tools, garden gloves, garden shoes, knee pads, and clothing such as tee shirts with garden related slogans on them are usually on sale at the end of summer.  A garden caddy, garden cart, or rolling scooter make great gifts for a gardener.  Bird feeders and bird houses are often marked down at the end of summer but may increase in price again as the Christmas season approaches. Other outdoor items also make good Christmas gifts.  Yard art or garden art are two possible suggestions.  Statues to put in the yard or flower bed, small garden signs with inspiring words, or wind chimes are a few other gift ideas that you can find on sale as summer comes to an end. A trellis or archway can be given as a Christmas gift even if flowers can’t be planted around it until spring.  Gardeners are hopeful people. They like to have something to look forward to such as planting a vine at the base of a trellis in spring.
    

Flower containers are on sale at the end of the summer.  You can use a flower container to put garden gift items in rather than buying a gift box or bag at Christmas.
You might want to give bulbs or seed packets as part of your gift.  An unusual but lovely gift idea is to purchase several seed packets that have attractive pictures on them, mount them on poster board and put in a frame to give as a gift for the gardener to hang on their wall.
    

Grilling items are on sale at the end of the summer.  If you have someone on your Christmas list who enjoys grilling you might want to take advantage of sale prices on grilling utensils, grilling baskets,  summer cookbooks, aprons, grill cleaning tools, or grill covers.
   

As you shop for the gardener or the griller on your Christmas list, keep your eyes open for other bargains you might find at the end of the summer season. Certain articles of clothing that are on the summer mark down rack can often be transitioned into the autumn season by wearing them under a lightweight jacket or oversized shirt. Some items that are actually non-seasonal such as umbrellas and sunglasses are frequently reduced at the end of summer.  It still rains in autumn and winter and the sun shines brightly during winter also.
