Autumn is my favorite season of the year. It seems like the moment Labor Day ends I start watching impatiently for the signs of the season. Where I live, it doesn’t take long, as more often than not the temperature begins to drop by the middle or the end of September.

Once the weather starts turning colder it isn’t very long before you see the first tree start to change color.

Followed soon afterward by entire forests putting on their autumn finery.

Before you know it the another sign appears on fence posts and in yards all over the countryside. Too many pumpkins to eat, they become a bright colored decoration for everyone to enjoy.

This first pumpkin was soon joined by many, many more in varieties of shapes and sizes. They soon line the fronts of stores, the porches of homes, and I have even seen some hanging from the branches of trees in years gone by.

Next you see the first signs of the upcoming holiday. While some people limit the decorating for Halloween to one or two jack-o-lanterns and a few indoor decorations. One couple in our town goes all out for this holiday.

So decorated is there yard that people stop and stare right in the middle of the street.

Then last of all at the end of month some interesting characters appear. When you see sights like this you know that fall is truly here to stay.
