The Perfect Father’s Day Gift

The Perfect Father’s Day Gift

Dad, why not give your children a gift this Father’s Day?

You know they try so hard to find something nice to give you – to show you how much they love you.  Most of you will get another tie, another hat or socks or maybe even slippers.  Yes, you appreciate these things of course because it’s the thought that counts. You know they would love to give you the world.  Why not make this a really special day by  spending some quality time with them?

Sure, you are always there for them. They realize that. They know you love them. But when is the last time you gave them your time for no special reason?  Life can get pretty hectic some days with work and other commitments.   This is a great opportunity  for you to show them just how much you care!

It doesn’t have to be an all day event.  You could just hang out together for a while. Play some ball, go fishing, take a long walk, maybe work on a project  that has been on the back burner.  Do the bikes need some maintenance?  Maybe a school project you could help with?    How about a movie they have been dying to see?  Just being with Dad and having his undivided attention will stay in their memory for a long, long time.

Have a conversation with your children.  Ask them about school, concerns they might have or anything that may be bothering them. They might even have some questions for you!  Take some time to really get to know them for the unique individuals that they are. This is your personal time together.  Anything goes.  Oh, but now is not the time to bring up past bad behaviors, or to give lectures.  Today you are buddies and best friends!

So Dad what do you think?  You could graciously accept your new tie and slippers and then slip out the back door to go play golf  with your friends.  After all this is your day. But you can do that some other time.  Why not make this fathers day one that will really make you feel proud.  One that will help secure the bond between you and your children.  You will never regret it.

One more thing.  Mom won’t mind being left out today.  I’m sure she will cherish the peace and quiet.  And the fact that you gave of yourself on this special day will fill her heart with joy!

My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me.

God Bless My Daddy

Very nice, sometime it is what we can give personally, not financially that is most treasured :)

This is such a good post. I’ve always thought that Father’s Day has always been overshadowed by Mother’s Day. And it’s great to remember that fathers are more laid back in celebrating and need to spend more time with their children.

Last year my family gave him a big breakfast, lunch, and dinner for fathers day. And a cake.
