Where to Go for Christmas Lights

Where to Go for Christmas Lights

During the Christmas holiday, the decorations seem to be the sight everyone wants to see. Some of my favorite spots might just become yours too.

Many homes decorate outside and inside, so if you just wait until dark, your view of lights can be seen by a car ride around the nearby neighborhoods.  When My children were young, we made this a yearly event which turned into a thrill for everyone.

There was a particular home in Amityville, Long Island, New York that especially evoked viewing the Christmas lighting idea to all who knew it existed.  The entire front lawn, which I think was 20 feet by 50 feet, moved and was lit with decorations for the Christmas season.  From a car, people would slowly get in line to view the creations the owner placed each year on their property.  I can’t tell you where it is, but it no longer exists.  One of the neighbors got upset with the numerous cars parading by for weeks asking authorities to disband the attraction.  They accomplished their goal.  There will be others that place lights for others enjoyment, so go find them with a short jaunt around the homes in your neighborhood.

New York Times Square is seemingly always a glow.  Christmas time, this area seems to take on an especially lighted sight.  If you live nearby, take a look.  The stores really go all out for window decorations which can make you stop in your tracks to view the displays.

Rockefeller Center has the BIG Christmas tree and a lighting ceremony as well.  Checking the Internet as to the time that ceremony takes place will be a thrill as the tree is illuminated. Children of all ages, get a wonderful feeling to see the lights turned on to that very tall Christmas tree.

Airports around the globe have come to yield to the many people who travel away during the holidays.  Many have decorated with Christmas lights around the numerous public areas, so the time away from home can seem a little like the Christmas time anyway.

There are a few neighborhoods where I live that go all out with the Christmas and decorations. It is always fun to drive around the family and enjoy the holiday decor.

Decoration, particularly LIGHT decoration is a crucial part of Christmas. The light brings hope, good fortune and brightness to the world. :-)

When our children were little we always took a few nights and drove around looking at Christmas lights. There was a farm that the family decorated and allows folks to walk though. Christmas lights make the season so magical.
