Ceiling Fan Motors: What The Heck?

Ceiling Fan Motors: What The Heck?

A humorous look at the frustration of ceiling fans.

How annoying can ceiling fans be?

Have you ever tried to adjust the speed on a ceiling fan, only to stand there pulling the chain over and over again to get the dang thing where you want it? Why have the people who make ceiling fan motors never heard of a simple ‘lil invention called THE SPEED SWITCH. The speed switch you ask? Why yes. For the truly uneducated, let me explain.

See, the speed switch is a doohicky that gives a visual indication of the given speed of something. For instance, if something like a ceiling fan were to have a speed switch installed, the operator could simply select the desired speed and walk away knowing that said ceiling fan is now whirring at the proper velocity.

But how would you install a speed switch on a ceiling fan? I don’t know, I’m not a mechanical engineer. That’s why we pay people who are, to figure those things out for us. If the installation of a speed switch jacks up the already overinflated price of a ceiling fan, then so be it. We are a nation that pays for convenience, and believe me, standing there pulling on a chain over and over is not convenient.
