Should A  Child Be Given A Wrist Watch?
 

In our world today  the watch has become a real fashion statement. Watches are available in many different brand names with various prices and if you are in the market for a watch you will have a variety of choices from a very youthful look to a real classy look which can reveal a little something about  the individual wearing the accessory.

Therefore, should young children be given a wrist watch and should they be allowed to wear such a grownup accessory? Many parents and grandparents will have a difference of opinion. The wrist watch has always been considered  a necessary item  for many individuals but not necessarily for young children since it was invented.

However, most young children have probably requested  a watch at some point in time for their birthday but many parents  refrain from purchasing a wrist watch because the  majority of parents feel as though the child is to young to be wearing a watch. But giving a child a watch might offer some  enormous benefits for the child and the parents.

Great habits can develop from a young child wearing a watch. It is a great way to teach your child how to be punctual. Therefore, by providing your child with a watch you can start teaching them how to tell time at a very early age. Being on time is a principle that you want to encourage with your young child and they can learn how to organize their activities such as piano lessons, soccer, and homework. This could be a major plus for parents  that have an active home life.

In our society today watches for children are not only for telling time but offer many other functions. You can purchase watches that come with a GPS and even with a mechanism that allows you to communicate with your child.  These watches are so high tech  and  you will always know the whereabouts of your  child.

In purchasing your child’s first watch remember it is not proper to give a young child a designer or luxury watch. Instead it is much more fitting and proper to purchase their favorite cartoon character or a watch that is appropriate for their age.

By teaching your young child to  tell time will require a commitment but you will soon see the positive effect. However, it can be a challenge but at the same time a lot of fun.
