Selecting a Good Helmet

Take the right fit helmet for your head. It is very necessary to wear the correct helmet while driving. Reading this article will give you the correct idea to select a good helmet.

Before going to buy a good helmet we have to know how it works internally.

Motorbike helmets are very sophisticated and focused for the activity. They have been developed with care and systematically over the years.

In order to protect you, good helmet depends on four main factors. They are Outer Shell/Coating, a Shock absorbing liner, comfort padding, and a good retention system.

Outer Shell / Coating is usually made with some family tree of fiber – reinforced compounds or thermoplastics which are like polycarbonate. This is hard material; so far it’s designed and intended to reduce when it hits anything hard. This action dissolves energy that arises from the collision and lessens the force before it arrives to your head. But it is not the only part that protects your head while collision. Inside the shell, collision absorber is also important which is usually made up of the expanded polystyrene (Commonly thinking of as Styrofoam). This layer cushions and takes up the collision as the helmet stops and head wants to keep on moving. Both the shell and liner reduces if hit hard, distributing the forces of collision all the way through the helmet material.

The more collision energy is absorbed or distributed, the less there is of it to reach your head and do little bit damage. Some of helmet shells delaminate on collision. Some others may crack or break if collision is very severe. This is one way a helmet acts to take in the collision energy. It is doing its anticipated work. The Comfort padding is the soft and layer of cloth, it sites next to your head. It helps in keeping your comfortableness and helmet fitting snugly. You can take it out for cleaning purpose. The retention system, this is also called as chin strap, is very important. This will keep the helmet on your head while crashes. It connect the both ends of the shell

Choosing a Helmet

A full face cover helmet gives the most protection, because it covers the total face and comfortable. A ¾ open helmet is also gives the protection for some riders. But it is not protect the chin. A half helmet which is a “shorty” in size is not recommended. Because the protection of the head very less.
