THE Scottish town of Jedburgh is in the heart of the great borders sheep rearing country. It has been renowned since the middle ages for the high quality of its woolen products. Now there are two great emporiums, standing next to each other and selling everything from cashmeres to the finest whiskies. They offer one of the greatest shopping experiences in all of Scotland.
Jedburgh Woolen Mill and the Edinburgh Woolen Mill stand at Bankend North on Edinburgh Road. Everyone just loves looking around these joint galleries and finding whatever they need, whether it is for their own wardrobe or even that extra special present.
The Clothing Department offers ladies and men’s knitwear and fashions that are suitable for every occasion. There are various sections in this part of the stores. Obviously there is more than just the ladies and men’s high street fashion and outdoor clothing divisions. The children’s wear section offers the most extensive choice of clothing for the youngsters that is made to the same high standards as that which is designed for the adults, while the lingerie division has a comprehensive selection of luxurious and stunningly seductive underwear and the most glamourous negligees.
Of course the one clothing section that every customer immediately heads for, whether to buy or just the browse is the Highland Dress and Tartans Accessories Section. The highland costume turns the meekest of men into warriors and princes. This division stocks almost every clan tartan in existence with all the traditional accoutrements that go to make up the clansman’s outfit.
Every type of whisky drink from the complete novice to the connoisseur is catered for in the Whisky Shop. It stocks an extensive range of rare, classic and popular single malt whiskies that are sure to captivate everybody.
The Golf Shop is a Mecca for players of all standards, offering a wide variety of many of the top brand names in both clothing and equipment at rock bottom prices.
Jdburgh and Edinburgh Woolen Mills both have Food Halls, which stock a fabulous selection of Scottish foods that customers can buy, either to treat themselves or as gifts to reward and thank friends. There is a wonderful range of food gifts that people can buy as an ideal memento of their visit to Scotland or alternatively as the perfect gift for the folk back home in Scottish Food and Gifts.
There are Luggage Departments at the Jedburgh and Edinburgh Woolen Mills which both offer a wide selection of luxury and hardwearing cases and other baggage.
Finally both emporiums have divisions which offer an extensive range of books, CDs and videos.
There are two marvellous and welcoming food stops at the mills. Customers can chose between the Coffee Shop, which offers Costa Speciality Coffees and the most delicious snacks and cakes or the Reivers restaurant, which caters for every taste with its extensive range of snacks and full traditional Scottish meals.
Jedburgh and Edinburgh Woolen Mills, which offer free car parking and tax free shopping are open seven days a week throughout the year with the single exception of Christmas Day.
The town of Jedbugh lies on the A68 Road, 11 miles north of the English Border at Carter Bar.
