Wilson BLX Better Than Previous?
A quick guide of my opinion on the next generation of Wilson tennis racket.

As some of you may know, Wilson is releasing a new line of tennis rackets called BLX. These new rackets have volcanic basalt in them in addition to Karophite, which was in the [K]Factor. BLX can block the frequency harmful to your body and thus relieving a lot of stress to your arms if you play often. Federer will definitely will feel the difference. Last year Federer had occasional backaches, so this new racket will definitely be able to prevent that in the coming year. Compared to the [K]Factor Six-one Tour, the BLX Six-one Tour is just a tiny bit lighter. Some people say BLX plays better than the [K]Factor and feels better. Some have complained [K]Factor being too stiff, so Wilson made the new rackets less stiff.
Many have complained that the paint job is horrible, especially on the the new tour, which is shown above. I think the Six-one has too many colors. If Wilson could take out the gold and the wavy stuff, it would look much better. In my opinion, asymmetrical coloring doesn’t look professional. However, some of my friends think the new rackets look alright. What I concentrate most on is not the paint but the playability. If it plays good and doesn’t hurt my arms, then I like it.
Federer and Del Potro will officially use BLX to play in the Australian Open, and I want to see a big improvement in their games. I wish Federer would shank less and Del Potro play more volleys. 2010 is a big year, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the new BLX!

I don’t play anymore but, I like the colors on the new racket. With the paint and what you have told me about how it is better, I would try it. But, the paint is the icing on the cake.

What’s going to be the headsize of Federer’s and Del Potro’s racquets? Also, I play with different k factor racquets, and I truly loved them!. My opinion is that this is just a marketing escheme by Wilson so they can charge $200 and more for these new BLX racquets. Volcanic Basalt? Come on people.
Go right ahead and spend your money needlessly, while you can get perfectly good racquets on the (k) factors now at discounted prices.

Ya I think you’re right, Wil. It’s a just a marketing scheme by Wilson. To me, [K]Factor 90 tour and Ncode 90 tour didn’t feel much different either. So BLX could be just a paint job or a difference you cannot notice.

It’s surely not THAT different to the K.Six.One.Tour.90?
I mean, a tiny, tiny, TINY bit lighter and a tiny, tiny, TINY bit more head light is not going to be something your average player notices. Federer will, but even for him it’s gonna be very small.
Speaking of very small… 90sqin? Is he serious?! C’mon Fed!! Go bigger! 95sqin baby!
If he hits the ball as cleanly as he does with 90… imagine 95

It’s great that they put thought into developing technology that reduces the stress and damage to the athlete’s body.

Federer, Henin, and Lopez will be using the BLX’s now, but does anyone really think is going to be the genuine BLX’s? Probably not! Most likely it will be older model(perhaps k factors) with a paint job to make thsese racquets look like current models. Pros are reluctant to change from their proven “faithful” models to try some unproven new model.
It’s no secret that a lot of Pros use older models painted to look “new” This is done more often than what people think.
Now Del Potro might actually be using a genuine BLX Pro Tour, because he is changing models completely, from the
(k)6.1 line to the different Pro Tour line.

Ok I saw Mardy Fish using a supposed BLX racquet earlier today in loosing to Baghdadis? I’m watching now the finals of the Medibank and Serena is actually still using her (k)Blade Team 104. At least with the Wiliiams you know that they are using a genuine (k)Blade Team 104. On tv one can tell that the headsize is 104, and not 100, 0r 98. Although the weight and balance is probably different than the ones you can buy.

I really want to try the BLX Tour, but the paint job is pretty gross. The previous color was so much better
