Discourse on Cyclic History of Civilization

Giovanni Battista Vice (1668-1744), the Italian philosopher did observe correctly that history keeps repeating itself presenting and ever recurring pattern and that mankind keeps returning to its point of origin. We know how Greece rose above the civilization of Arabia after having gone to school in Egypt. But why? We may know why Rome fell and how it started, but why did war like agrarian Rome rise at all when there was more culture and intellect in Greece? Why was it necessary that humanity wasted all that time educating Rome to become so that Greece may return to dust? Why didn’t Greece continue? Why didn’t Egypt continue rather than educate Greece to take over?

However, he preferred to call himself San Bao and became the most famous sailor to transverse the world’s oceans long before the Europeans left their continent.
