The Lady with The Lamp

Florence Nightingale was born in Florence Italy on May 12th 1820. She was born into a wealthy family and was well known for being both a nurse and activist and the founder of modern nursing. She made outstanding contributions and became a hero, with her guidance hospitals became clean and sanitary place where the mortality rate dropped.

William “Wild Bill” Longley

William Preston Longley, the notorious gunman of the ‘wild west’ was born in Texas on 16th October, 1851. Little is known of his early life but it is known that he had already killed several men by the time he was twenty years old. Infamous for his short temper, ‘Wild Bill’ as he became known would kill over the most trivial argument and had a particular dislike for African Americans.

Extraordinary Feasts: Strange Meals in Peculiar Places

Taking Venice as his theme, Kessler flooded the courtyard of the hotel with water dyed blue to resemble the sea. Magnificent painted backdrops provided the setting, and the entire scene was illuminated by 400 Venetian lamps. His two dozen guests sat inside a huge silk lined gondola bobbing on the “canal,” surrounded by 12,000 carnations and an enormous number of roses. They are food prepared by 15 master chefs and served by waiters dressed as gondoliers.
