Can Art Go Too Far?

A former student of mine sent me an email and asked me what I thought of an art exhibit she had read about that allegedly involved (among other things) the starvation of a dog that was tied to a wall in the gallery. This essay grew from my response to her question.

Installation and Street Art That Can Change the World

You won’t find art like this in a museum. Street artist or Installation artist use an urban environment and it’s structures, accessories, roads, buildings, signs etc to creatively decorate and spread a message. Almost always, installation art has a powerful meaning, usually social observations. Sometimes it’s just to be funny or just plain creative.
