Upcycling is the concept of taking something of little value (such as an empty pill bottle) and increasing its value exponentially through artistic expression (see the pill bottle sculpture below). Jean Shin is one of the extraordinarily talented artists who’s view of what is trash and what is treasure takes her on an artistic journey that is beautiful to follow.

Upcycling is the process of taking something of little value and increasing it’s worth through transformation of the raw product. Records are a great example of a raw material that has been transformed into many different objects. However, records aren’t just being made into clocks these days. There is a whole world of artistic recyclers out there putting scratched and unwanted records to great re-use.

Long thought to be dead and gone, vinyl has struck back against our new, “advanced” digital world.
