How to Use Glue on Styrofoam

Styrofoam is a popular material for sculpting initial maquettes for casting. It is also used for small sculptures, scale models or armatures to build onto. Its ability to adhere to itself and remain lightweight makes it a common choice among artists and craft makers. It is a durable material that also can be shaved down or carved to form unique shapes. There are a variety of glues that can be used on Styrofoam, though not all glues will work without eating through the material.

CY Twombly Exhibit Featured at Chicago’s Art Institute

Most recently, I was afforded the pleasure of visiting the Chicago Art Institute’s Modern Wing. Quite appropriately, the first exhibit featured in this new spacious addition is that of Cy Twombly ’53. The exhibit, which opened on May 16, 2009, is entitled, “Cy Twombly, The Natural World, Selected Works 2000-2007”.
