In order to start making a stop motion video, you need to have a couple pieces of equipment to get the clip/video looking it’s best.

1. Bunch of legos
2. Lamp/Light
3. Camera, could even be a web cam, but i don’t recommend at ALL!!!
4. Editing Source – Computer, with editing program   aka.  Movie Maker
5. Open space

Once you have these pieces of equipment, you can begin thinking of the IDEA.

Think of something funny, something that would be good enough to create a couple and put on Youtube and get 50 views or so!

Once you have a idea, create the Set, the background, what you are going to take a step off of, this should require some legos but not a bunch.

Once you have a footstool, get your Lego guy and began putting your funny scene into action!

Step 1 – Light the area, this should give light for your camera

• Never use natural light because the sun moves and usually even small clips take a while to film.

Step 2 – Set your guy in position ready for the first frame.

• If you have a Stop Motion feature on your camera, ignore it, it’s better to take separate shots and then stitch them together.
• Never take the same shot two or more times, all it does is create confusion, if you want to extend the length of a frame, extend it using the editing program, don’t add more frames!

Step 3 – Began taking pictures, each shot, change your Lego mans posture.

Making a Lego Guy Walk - Simple Version

Step 1 – Have the Guy standing straight up and down.

Step 2 – Move either the right or left foot forward.

Step 3 – Shift the whole body forward and leave the left foot (from the picture above) back.

Step 4 – Swing the foot that is back forward, so it looks like Step 2 picture but reversed.

Step 5 – Repeat Step 3 but reversed.

Step 6 – Repeat from Step 2…

Making a Lego Guy Walk – Advanced Version

This Advance Version simply makes the person walk smoother…so if you are not satisfied seeing your Lego man/woman walk, try adding in these frames!

Step 1 – Between Step 2 and 3 add in a mid frame, where the Lego man is doing the splits.  This should make the step taking a bit more smooth.

Step 2 – Between Step 3 and 4 add in a mid frame, where the Lego guy is standing straight up and down again.  This should smooth out the first step taking.

Having your Lego guy walk or run is a very important part in video clips or movies.

I’m not going to tell you every little stunt that you can make your Lego guy do.
Explore, try to make up your own crazy stuff!
