10 Best Magic the Gathering Angels Ever Printed
These deadly angels turn the game around, They are, infact, the strongest, quickest, and sexiest cards ever printed…
Who doesn’t like angels? They represent a heavenly power and bring some umph to any magic game. Not to mention the beauty and coolness of kicking the crap out of your opponent with a card that actually depicts grace… These are the best 10 angels for your decks… opponents of white decks everywhere, beware!

#10
Blinding Angel – last printing : 2005

Ha. For holding a sword upside down, this card packs a lot of punch. A wonderful edition to any mono-white deck, and the root of some amazing control decks, blinding angel is one of my personal favorites as well.
#9
Exalted Angel – last printing : 2002

Woa. A 4th turn 4/5 flier? yep, with lifelink. This is a staple card for any collector or player. There was no more effective early game angel. Although outdated by monstrosities such as Baneslayer nowadays, she still deserves a spot on the list
#8
Maelstrom Archangel – last printing : 2009

Arn’t angels supposed to be white? This mythic rare covers the entire spectrum, and for good reason. Attack with this and dump a progenitus out of your hand. If you can handle the mana cost, this sexy flier is one of the most useful cards out there.
#7
Akroma, Angel of Fury – last printing : 2007

Akroma, transformed into dragon form. This card tops the red card of its time. The most angry of the top 10, This is also the only mono-red angel. The drawback is there are some dragons, that sort of do the exact same thing, rendering this card a littlecliche’.
#6
Iona, Shield of Emeria – last printing: 2009

With the largest attack and defense on any angel ever printed and tied for the highest mana cost. Iona is one bulky card. Unfortunatly that draws away from her usability slightly. None the less, the ability to shut an entire deck down with one cast is nothing to scoff at. She is particularly ept at EDH.
#5
Pristine Angel -last printing : 2004

I LOVE this card. Pristine angel brings a lot to the table in terms of versatility. I actually use it for defense more than attack but heck yes you could use it for both. 4/4 for 6 is a good price to pay for this chick.
#4
Adarkar Valkyrie – last printing : 2006

It’s a close call between the next couple, but the Valkarie comes up a little short. A game saver for pretty much any white deck, she’s saved my butt a couple of times. Kudos to Jeremy Jarvis for, in my opinion, the coolest illustration of the angels.
#3
Akroma, Angel of Wrath – Last printing : 2006

The Winner of the popular contest, Akroma is a little more powerful and unique in her white form. The problem is the mana cost, but if you get her out, many people consider the game over (particularly EDH). This is one of the sought after cards in the game due to its novelty, rarity and power.
#2
Baneslayer Angel – Last Printing : 2009

19 out of 20 times this angel is the best of the best. With all those abilities, she is unstop-able for only 5 mana! Baneslayer Angel is the most expensive card with the new card design and one of the most sought after cards in the game! But there is something she cant do…
…and the winner is…
#1
Platinum Angel- last printed : 2007

Yes this is a controversial pick, but read it. You cant get any better than that. Yea shes a popular target for disenchant and unmake, and definitely watch out playing a blue control deck, but situationaly it is impossible to lose the game, proving a pretty awesome card that belongs nowhere else but in the #1 spot!
Any Suggestions?

Did you consider:
Twilight Shepherd
Creature – Angel 5/5, 3WWW (6)
Flying, vigilance
When Twilight Shepherd comes into play, return to your hand all cards in your graveyard put there from play this turn.
Persist (When this creature is put into a graveyard from play, if it had no -1/-1 counters on it, return it to play under its owner’s control with a -1/-1 counter on it.)1

And what do you think about Baneslayer Angel?
Creature – Angel 5/5, 3WW
Mythic Rare
Text: Flying, first strike, lifelink, protection from Demons and from Dragons
Some angels protect the meek and innocent. Others seek out and smite evil wherever it lurks.

I think Baneslayer is one of the most powerful angels i have ever used. When i play platinum it never stays in the game for more than 3 turns usually.Great cards though i strive in making a great angel deck.

-Exalted Angel (Reasoning – it sucks, you must have made a mistake, it definitely cost 6.)
+Baneslayer Angel (Reasoning – If your opponent gets one out, lets see if you can win?)

What would happen if 2 Platnium Angles were on the field on opposite sides? They are not legendary, so would the game go on untill someone got milled? But wait, can you get milled if one of those angles are out? Would the game go on untill someone got fed up and quit?

To the fella who can\’t see how an Exalted Angel can hit the board in turn 4… you comments speak for your stupidity and ignorance

@ monoman. yea, pretty much. I do believe the game would go on indefinitly until someone somehow lost a platinum angel or conceded. Platinum angel will save you from being milled.

Thank you for your response Mike1229. You have increased my opinion in Platinum Angle, although I would hate to play that hypothetical game, espesialy if it were in a tournament!

I definately agree with this list.
Give your platinum angel a wispersilk cloak and you pretty much win.
Although,
With platinum angel does your life go negative and you dont lose or do you no longer have a life total or does your life stay at one?
Mike1229, posted this comment on Mar 2nd, 2010
I do believe your life will go negative with platinum angel

I feel like Battlegrace Angel needs to be on here. The ability to give anything lifelink has won me so many games.
