Do you have it yet? Have you found the perfect gift for your father? Whether you are ready or not, Father’s Day will be here on June 21st.
While there are many unique and expensive gifts for the father who has everything and needs nothing new, there are ten tried and true gifts that never go out of style.
So for your review I offer a list of the Top Ten Father’s Day Gifts.
- Accessories: Notoriously know as the Father’s Day Tie, accessories can cover a wide range of gifts. Think of it as something your father needs but will usually not buy for himself such as: shirts, a new belt, a wallet, sunglasses, new sneakers, socks, and the list for accessories can go on and on.
- Food: Now what man does not like food? With food you have many options. How about a beer, wine or cheese food of the month club? This option keeps on giving. If money is an issue make your own food basket filled with his favorite treats. Another way to give food as gift is lunch or dinner out. But remember on Father’s Day many restaurants will be crowded and a reservation may be required.
- Tools: Most men find a new tool hard to resist. Try to look around and find something in the house that needs repairing but dad does not have the tool to fix it. This gift can turn into a win-win situation for all parties involved.
- Hobby Supplies: Every dad has a least one hobby and any new item used to help him enjoy his hobby will be loved. The only problem with this gift is not to buy it too often; it then becomes boring and predictable.
- Sports: This one is easy. Share time with your dad over a beer and a hotdog at his favorite sporting event. Please note: Pass on the beer if you are underage. A root beer and dog are just as good and will keep you and your dad out of jail.
- Electronics: All fathers love new electronic gifts and there are so many to chose from; a new computer, large screen TV, digital camera or a navigation system for his car. Any of these gifts are sure to bring a tear to dad’s eye. But consider this option only if you have very deep pockets. Most electronics are quite expensive.
- Auto accessories: Men love their automobiles, no matter what type, a sports car, pick-up truck or SUV. Dads love any gift that enhances their mode of transportation.
- Media: This option includes books, music and videos. Try to tailor the gift to suit his tastes. If he likes history a book or video on his favorite era will be enjoyed. Loves movies, find a DVD on a title he missed at the theater. Music is his thing; CD’s to listen to while in the car are good ideas. This option has many choices.
- Outdoor or Summer Items: Since Father’s Day is so close to the official beginning of summer these are excellent gifts. For one reason they are easy to find. They are usually in the front of every store and sometimes waiting for you in the parking lot. Grills, hammocks and even lawn mowers are good summer gifts. If an item has to be assembled please do it before you give it to dad. He does not want to spend Father’s Day building his gift.
- Time: Give your dad the day free of all cares. Let him do whatever he wants to do. Let his wishes come first. While this is not a standard gift it will be loved by the receiver, namely your father. But remember you should still get him another present to go with this one. The gift of time should never be given alone.
Add a Father’s Day card to any of the above items and you have the makings of a perfect Father’s Day. Now go forth and shop.

It’s cool to remember Father’s Day as it seems to be a bit obscured by Mother’s Day so much of the time. I have actually heard some women comment that Father’s Day doesn’t matter. Heck there use to be a Children’s Day in July and we don’t even hear about that anymore.

Great article Pam. I could use a new fishing rod…of course I never pass on Labatt Blue or Guinness…as for sports? Well, our beloved Red Wings lost the Stanley Cup this season so that’s that…GO DETROIT TIGERS!!!!!

Pam,
This is a great article. My three sisters, brother, and I always had a cook out for dad. He loved cookouts. Usually a week before fathers day he would start hinting around about having one. But since both my parents are gone, I really miss having the cookouts for dad. But Mary’s dad also enjoys them. Mary’s oldest sister will be down on father’s day and we will be having one for my father-in-law. Great suggestions, Pam!!!
Keep up the great work.
